General Discussion / Re: JIM EDELBROCK CHEVROLET
« on: March 10, 2012, 02:18:07 AM »
I live by Lou LaRiche Chevrolet and know the owner family.  I'll stop by and see if they have anything in the back room from the Jim Edelbrock Chevrolet days.

Saw a neighbor was his car (not a Camaro) he used his electric yard blower to get the excess water out of all the crevices.  He'd blow it out, wipe it off, blow some more until there was no spray.  Not recommending just interesting.

I as well have was mine 3 times in 11 years and the last one was at least 6 years ago.

General Discussion / Re: 4.10 and speedo accuracy
« on: August 05, 2009, 10:03:42 PM »
I'm not sure how accurate you're trying to get.  If you use the approach below it will take into account all the variations that have been discussed.  The key is driving 60 miles an hour only.

Time a 10 mile drive on the highway using the mile markers as your measure doing 60 MPH consistenty.

Then use the following calculation for the "# Teeth Needed"

# Teeth                            # Teeth
on Gear Now                      Needed                                           # teeth on gear now X 600 (seconds)
-----------------------   =   ----------------------        or   # teeth needed = -----------------------------------------------------
Time in seconds                 600 seconds                                       time in seconds for 10 miles at 60 MPH
for 10 miles at
60 MPH

Use the listing below to determine which color gear you need.

From the National Parts Depot Camaro Catalog
Red - 21 teeth
Blue - 20 teeth
Green - 22 teeth
Black - 23 teeth
Orange - 25 teeth
Yellow - 24 teeth
Purple - 17 teeth
Brown - 18 teeth
Neutral - 19 teeth
Silver - 22 teeth

Maintenance / Re: Clutch or Transmission or . . .

John,  the travel distance is about 1.5 to 2 inches.  Should this be adjusted down or should something else be considered?  Thanks.

Maintenance / Clutch or Transmission or . . .
« on: January 19, 2009, 03:48:23 AM »
The issue is it is very hard to shift at an idle once the 69 Camaro has run for 30 minutes plus.   It can be driven and the longer you drive the harder it is to shift back into first especially at a stop.

Does this sound like the clutch or the transmission (M20)?

I would like to have some ideas on this before having it looked at.

Another way to determine with speedometer gear to use is to a little math.

Time a 10 mile drive on the highway using the mile markers as your measure doing 60 MPH consistenty.

Then use the following calculation for the "# Teeth Needed"

# Teeth                            # Teeth
on Gear Now                      Needed
-----------------------   =   ----------------------
Time in seconds                 600 seconds
for 10 miles at
60 MPH

Use the listing below to determine which color gear you need.

From the National Parts Depot Camaro Catalog
Red - 21 teeth
Blue - 20 teeth
Green - 22 teeth
Black - 23 teeth
Orange - 25 teeth
Yellow - 24 teeth
Purple - 17 teeth
Brown - 18 teeth
Neutral - 19 teeth
Silver - 22 teeth

Restoration / Black Z28/RS Grill
« on: December 31, 2007, 12:44:29 AM »
I'm finally getting around to correcting a few restoration issues on my '69 Z28/RS.  It's black with white stripe as original.  Only problem is the previous owner did not paint the grill the original Argent color.

Can someone tell me how much of the grill was Argent?  Is the entire area within the chrome trim around the grill what needs to be Argent?

General Discussion / Re: Value for insurance
« on: December 09, 2007, 03:24:08 PM »
This is an interesting topic.  With regards to insurance, can some of you provide feedback?

What insurer you use?
The replacement value the policy has if lost.
Is an appraisal required?
An estimate of your annual insurance cost is?

I'm looking to change insurer's.

Thanks,

Ken Boone

Need to repaint the air cleaner my 69 Z.  What degree of gloss and temperature resistance do I need to use?  Thanks.

General Discussion / Re: 1969 stereo radio diagrams
« on: August 07, 2006, 07:34:45 PM »
Actually both if available.  For some reason I'm not getting any signal out of the green wires from the multiplexer.  Since it goes to the fader in the radio I believe I can connect the green wires directly to the speakers and should hear the channel if working correctly.

Well thanks to a backup CD I found the radio wiring diagram.

Only issue is the diagram for the stereo adapter/multiplexer was not included.  If someone can scan and send me this diagram I would be very appreciative.

Maintenance / Re: 69 Blue Dot Radio - Stereo Adapter?
« on: July 28, 2006, 10:28:56 PM »
Mark - found above the glove box.  Thanks.  Going to replace the Delco DS-501 amplifier and see if that brings the channel alive.

By the way, with a steror radio is there a connection up to the speaker installed in the upper middle of the dash?
