Thats good news, thanks kurt. The reason i got this block off ebay was because of the assemly date. My original engine is long gone and the 396 that was in my car is from a 1966 impala. I do have the POP for my car and the assemly date for my original engine is T0617MW, 11 days after the assemly date on the block i got from ebay, probably as close as i will ever get to my original engine.

thanks

Sorry for the dumb question, was just reading ( on this site ) that only the tail pans on black cars were not blacked out.

Originality / Blacked out tail pan
« on: May 11, 2007, 01:36:52 PM »
I've read that some big blocks in 67 didnt have the tail pan blacked out if the body color was dark. My L35 is going back to the original maroon ( N-N ), should the tail pan be blacked out or not?

Also should the bumble bee stripe be white or black and if this could go both ways, which was more popular at the time.

Thanks

I remember someone saying that dealerships used Hurst shifters as replacements when Muncies flew apart. Don't know if there is any truth to that or not.
