Maintenance / door mirror adjustments????
« on: June 17, 2013, 07:18:43 PM »
The door mirror on my 67 will not hold where I place it. Is there a way to tighten the pivot point or ball of the mirror to remedy this problem or do I have to replace the whole unit?

Thanks in advance

Maintenance / Re: losing coolant

Thanks Ed for the info.

I have a friend that has a IR thermo to check heat with. I'll use it to check the accuracy of the gauges in my car. And I will look for the line for fill on the radiator.

Thanks again!

Ed:

Thanks for reply. That is about what I am losing ( 1 inch) every 30 days or so. I drive it as much as possible and only become aware of the lost fluid when I get into slow traffic and my temp gauge goes past half way. Then I let the car sit overnite and check it in the morning. I fill to about an inch below the top of radiator. The heater core started leaking this year and have disconnected the hoses from the core so I know there are no leaks from that area. Not sure I am going to replace the core, I did this about 6 years ago and don't want to do it again.

Maintenance / losing coolant
« on: August 28, 2011, 10:47:35 PM »
Not sure this is where to post this question but here goes.
My 67 Camaro 350 either is using or losing radiator coolant about every 30 days or so. I can not find any leaks from the engine or the radiator so I am guessing it is either being used???? or evaporating.
Anyone else have this situation?

Thanks in advance.

Mild Modifications / Replacing brakes
« on: January 27, 2011, 03:07:50 PM »
This spring I am going to replace the brakes on my 67 Camaro. With all the new disc brake kits that are on the market I am contemplating putting discs of the front of my car. Presently I have power brakes. Question is, what would be the best way to go? Stay original? (car is not numbers matching) put on manual discs or power?

Thanks

Thanks John:

Never really understood why it was so much larger than todays carbs. so the size was determined at wide open throttle? Can you tell me why most recommend a smaller rated carb now if you replace it?

Is there any difference in performance if the carb is repalced with smaller cfm carb? My engine (350) is basically stock other than headers.

Thanks

Mild Modifications / Replacement carb?
« on: September 09, 2010, 05:47:15 PM »
What carb if any, would you replace the Rochester 750 cfm on a stock 350 V8?  Just about everyone I know that has replaced the 750 Rochester on a 350 have stepped down to a carb somewhere between 550 and 650 cfm. Biggest question is why did the first gen 350's have such a large carb compared to what is suggested to replace it with? ???

Thanks!!!!!!!!

Restoration / Re: upper dash panel installation

Thanks for the info. Now that makes sense. It could the cause of the squeak. I will remove it and see if I can get a different bolt, maybe longer.
Why doesn't the left side have this?

Thanks

Restoration / upper dash panel installation
« on: June 07, 2010, 10:39:12 PM »
I've posted this also under general discussion because I am not sure where it should be. Does anyone know how the upper dash (metal) is installed on a 67 Camaro? The reason I ask is on the passenger side inner door (hinge pillar?) just above the top hinge and below the front windshield, there is a bolt with 3 washer on it. I tighten it up as far as it would go and it just spins. Reason I ask is I have developed a "squeak" behind the glove box and was wondering if this bolt could be causing it. There is nothing on the drivers side like this. It "appears" this bolt and washers have something to do with the upper dash but I am not sure.

Thanks

General Discussion / 67 upper dash panel mounting

Can anyone tell me how the upper dash panel on a 67 Camaro is installed? Reason I ask, on the passenger side above the upper hinge and just below the front fender (inner) there is a bolt with 3 washer on it. I tried to tighten it up but it goes so far and then doesn't grab anything. I have developed a "squeak" behind the glove box and was trying to figure out if this bolt had anything to do with it. There is nothing on the drivers side so I am not sure what this bolt does. It "appears" to have something to do with the dash but I am not sure.

Thanks

Restoration / Re: 67 vent window frames
« on: May 19, 2010, 10:14:08 PM »
MyRed67,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,

Finally found and purchased a set of vent windows for my car. The person I purchased them from had them wrapped up in storage for about the last 10-15 years. They are in excellent shape other than the weather stripping. No pit marks on chrome and no scratches on glass. I ordered the weatherstripping  and felt guides thru Rick's (Eckler's????)
These are complete assemblies all the way down to the bolts used to attached them to the interior of the doors.

Thanks for looking!!!!!!!!

Myred67:

You are correct in the discription of what I am looking for. It appears that parts I thought I may have has fallen thru. I have been to Jefferson many times and this year was no exception. We did find any this year. But I am still looking.
