General Discussion / Re: 1969 ZL1 - # 55

#25 belonged to a friend of the family that was a orange automatic. It was in many of the shows at Charlotte Motor Speedway Auto Fair and was at Floyd Garrett's Muscle Car Museum at one time. It was sold after the owner passed several years back so I don't know where it is now.

General Discussion / Re: DEALER CODE AND ZONE NUMBERS
« on: November 23, 2024, 02:52:54 PM »
I was born and raised in Charlotte. In that era it would have likely been LaPointe Chevrolet (uptown) or City Chevrolet (North Charlotte) and years later there Larry Jay Chevrolet (South Charlotte).

You may find something here... https://www.ncrs.org/services/dealer-code-data.php

It's hard to walk away from something so unique but with known frame rot and other unidentified issues I'd be inclined to do so for that price.

IMO, I have to agree with KurtS.

I would suggest to update the photo's every 60-90 days to give others a chance to show their fine rides.

Originality / Re: 1969 Camaro rear wheel well undercoating
« on: September 22, 2024, 08:09:19 PM »
I worked at a Pontiac dealership '76-'77 when I was a teen, having the dealer do undercoating was a pretty common thing back then. There was very little to no prep so overspray was common on components other than the floorboards.

I think it’s just the angle of the photo. It’s 711.

10 bolt might have been swapped out years ago for better gas mileage.

Would like to see the engine and transmission stampings.
Good point! I didn't think it through before posting. A Z11 would be stamped where the X22 was I presume.

I'm no expert but am a little confused with this one. TT states Z11 and is also stamped (69) Cortez Silver. Gauge package but no tach and a 10 bolt.

General Discussion / Re: Interesting period photos.... :)

I did Charlotte Motor Speedway several times on a Harley. We were told that we had to maintain 75 to stay on the bank and DO NOT PASS the lead car. Me and a couple friends had learned the trick was to lag from the group to create a half lap gap and let it roll. The bike actually went around itself when at speed. If you try to go on the bank before at speed you will come right down to the bottom. It was a blast!

Great find and interesting read!
I have a '68 396 SS/RS Norwood car with a 09C build date. I bought it from the original owner in '86 with the POP and all service and registration documentation, but didn't get the original bill of sale or window sticker.

My '68 is an 09C NOR car, same week as this 09C LOS tag. Interior trim code 718 would be a bench wouldn't it?

Gotta say I like that hood on that body style! Wonder how it would look with factory Z stripes? Might have too much going on and look better without them. I have seen them with a single stripe which looks good though.
Thanks, I loved that fiberglass hood. My dad owned a body shop so I did all the prep work and he painted it. I considered Z stripes but decided against it due to the contours of the L88 hood vs. the width of the stripes.
