Mild Modifications / Factory Camshaft spec's for 1967 L48
« on: August 05, 2022, 10:42:05 PM »
When I bought my car the previous owner had started restoring the car to original.  The guy told me he had the engine rebuilt to factory spec's.  I replaced the cam with a Lunatti Voodoo prior to initial engine start up.  I have receipts for a lot of the parts he purchased but not the cam I think it came fro Classic Industries, as most receipts I have are from there.  I have a brand new cam that I cant use and would like to get rid of it.  What would be the approximate specs for this cam?  If I knew that I might be able to find someone who wants it.

Maintenance / Winter storage

I recently installed a two post lift in my garage.  Last winter I stored the car off the ground as a mouse deterrent.  Any downside to the suspension being un weighted?

Maintenance / Muncie M-20 Rebuild kit
« on: May 08, 2022, 04:09:32 PM »
My 67 RS/SS was purchased as a roller with the original 350 and M-20 rebuilt, but, not installed in the car.  When I bought the car the previous owner provided me with an invoice for transmission repair.  The invoice included $250 for a rebuild kit with reverse gears.  The car is now on the road and I notice that when in 1st gear and not under load the trans will pop out of gear.  I searched the forum and found an old post mentioning worn sliders (part of synchro unit) could be to blame.

My question is would a transmission rebuild kit like I described above include the 1st to 2nd sliders?  Any thoughts on other to diagnose problem?

Maintenance / Engine Oil Preferences
« on: May 02, 2022, 05:26:24 PM »
My 67 has a mild 350 with a flat tappet cam.  I have been using the Gibbs brand oil for the first couple of oil changes.  Break in with the their break in oil then running the HR oil thereafter.  Pretty expensive, especially as I like to change yearly.  I prefer and oil that I do not have to add for ZDDP.  Any suggestions?

Mild Modifications / Hyperspark Timing
« on: March 21, 2021, 09:10:31 PM »
I have a mild 350 in my 1967 Camaro.  The engine is fresh, 0.020 over, Lunati Voodoo cam 219* intake duration at 0.050 lift, headers, Pertronix ignitor and the Holley Stealth Terminator EFI system.
I purchased the Hyperspark distributor, CD box, and coil and plan to install it soon.

Base timing is currently at 9* BTDC and 32* total advance.  The install videos I have watched set the base timing for the Hyperspark at 15* and suggest 34* at WOT.

Any thoughts on the 15* initial advance?

Mild Modifications / Hurst Linkage Hits Trans Tunnel
« on: December 03, 2020, 07:29:37 PM »
The third fourth shift rod on my Hurst linkage (M-20) is rubbing against the transmission tunnel.  My car is an original four speed car with a console.   The installation instructions say "transmission rods supplied with this kit may require slight bending to clear obstructions".  Has anyone else had this issue?
