Mild Modifications / Dz302 rod bolts

Hey guys, anyone know the limits of the stock rod bolts? I have heard on other places on the Web that they are a weak points. Anybody have any issues with them, I would like to know from guys that actually wind out their 302! Feedback is greatly appreciated!

Hey guys, can stock 186 castings accept dual valve springs? My heads were machined for dual valve springs in the early 70s. I have an opportunity to buy a freshly done set of 186 castings that are stock but my camera recommends a dual spring. Are there modern dual valve springs that fit into the 186 heads with no machine work? I can buy the heads for $400 which is probably cheaper than I can have my original heads rebuilt for...

Anybody here running their 302 on pump gas? I heard with the stock cam they can run on Super, I have a zip 510 cam and I think I may have to run a mix of 110ll and super...

Hey everyone, I'm new to the forum and just want to introduce myself! I am here because I bought a 1955 Bel Air that has been in a garage since 1974 and it just happened to have a 69 302 in it! From the research I have done so far it appears to be a counter exchange unit. Anyway, I am looking forward to the knowledge and information on this page that can help me put this motor back together and get her up and running again! Thanks ahead of time guys!
