Decoding/Numbers / No engine pad VIN stamp?
« on: October 27, 2016, 03:57:14 AM »
VO604DZ (No VIN stamp)  June 04, 1969
VIN 124379N666761
X33
07A  1st week July

Anyone have any experience with an engine that has no engine pad VIN stamp? We're engines produced with only the engine VIN stamped in the alternate location adjacent to the oil filter in 1969?

Appreciate the experience of the group in helping me out.

General Discussion / Best way to evaluate value of 69 Z
« on: October 24, 2016, 03:57:01 PM »

Would appreciate any sources or advise besides NADA to put a value on a 69 Z-28.  Is it $ well spent to hire a classic car evaluator and have an inspection and report by a third party prior to purchase?

Appreciate the experience and suggestions of the group.  Only source I'm aware of is NADA. I have completed the decode of the car.  X33 car, original M22 and 12 bolt, period correct DZ 302 but not original to car built several months after car was manufactured in 69.

Incorrect paint color on car, older restoration but car looks very clean!

Thanks very much.

Thanks very much!

General Discussion / 69 Z28 Engine question
« on: October 24, 2016, 01:58:46 PM »

Looking at a 69 Z-28 for sale.  X-33, Engine is a DZ code but not original to car as it was a June assembly and car was a January 1969 build.  All original from bottom end to the Holley carb.

How much is the value affected by the engine not being original to the vehicle?  In this case an exact duplicate built several months after the car was built?   Remainder of drivetrain is original to vehicle M22 and 12 bolt #'s validated.  Appreciate anyone's thoughts from your experience.

Decoding/Numbers / Decode help 1967 Camaro
« on: October 16, 2016, 12:36:54 PM »

Believe I'm looking at an original "SS" but would appreciate the experience of the group.  Engine casting #3892657 and stamp is MV code matching vin.  L-48 350, 2 spd power glide, center console shift, 10 bolt rear end.  Engine decoded built a few weeks prior to manufacturing date of car.  Appreciate the help.

General Discussion / NADA value 1967 Camaro
« on: October 16, 2016, 10:36:27 AM »
Is there a better way to determine value then NADA?  I'm looking at a 1967 SS Camaro.  Have decoded the body by fisher plate, VIN, engine casting # and engine stamp, transmission and rear end.  It's a true SS car, original engine, transmission and rear end in excellent overall condition.

L-48 350, 2 spd. Powerglide, RPO D55 center console/floor shift and 10 bolt rear end, power steering, power brakes, front disc brakes.  Authenticity of car checks out but concerned about the fact it's an automatic and 10 bolt rear end car when it comes time to sell... Also a factory blue on blue car.   Needs a few things like original radio and some TLC in the engine compartment but a solid rust free survivor.

Appreciate anyone's thoughts on investment quality of such a car purchased well below NADA average retail value.  Hard to find an all original drivetrain but it's not a 4spd., 12 bolt factory car. It's also a car that was purchased and imported to Japan many years ago.  So I would eventually be shipping it back to the USA.

Would like to go with a M21 complete conversion kit and Moser 12 bolt 3.55 posi rear end.  Keeping original tranny and rear end when it comes time to sell.

Appreciate anyone's thoughts based on your experience.
