Originality / Engine stampings
« on: November 08, 2016, 12:49:31 AM »
Bought a '69 Camaro back in Spring, under the impression that it was not an SS (the seller was only advertising as an RS).
I posted the particulars over on the TC site, with the conclusion that it is an SS after all.

This is the thread in case anyone is interested (http://www.camaros.net/forums/15-tag-team/388137-ss-not.html)

I have no documentation, but all the correct signs are there.  I thought I should post the engine stampings, since that is really the main evidence of it being a real SS.
I would just like confirmation that the stamping look legit.  The VIN is on the casting area by the oil filter so is hard to make out, but it you zoom in on the picture, you can definitely read it.
I don't know why it didn't trigger until just recently, but I didn't realize that the 350/300hp engine was only available when ordered with the SS option. I always though that it could be ordered on a non-SS car, but that is not the case. Please confirm.

Originality / How to tell if console gauges are original to car
« on: May 31, 2016, 03:24:23 AM »
Recently purchased a '69 RS/SS original 350 engine with automatic trans (not original).
I have no documentation on the car, and would like to determine if the car would have come with factory console gauges or not. It currently does have the console gauges.
What should I be looking for?

Originality / Deluxe Interior
« on: April 25, 2016, 04:53:19 AM »
Just purchased a '69 and need to determine how far to go on the interior. it originally came with the deluxe interior, and does have the correct seats/door panels.  The interior has been redone (different color), and does not have the woodgrain trims. Did the woodgrain trim come as part of the deluxe interior? If so, how are the repro woodgrain kits, anyone?

Thanks

General Discussion / New '69 - tires
« on: April 24, 2016, 12:26:22 AM »
Just purchased a '69 RS, maybe SS, still to be determined. Very first thing I need to do is swap the wheels and tires. Going for the standard BFG T/A's on standard ralley wheels, as that has always been my favorite look on the '69, even though "everyone" has them.
From research I've done, was going to go with 215/60/15 on the front and 235/60/15 on the rear.  Just talked to my local tire shop that I like dealing with, and he said the 215's are hard to find. He could get 225's much easier.  So... my question is, do you think there will be any rubbing issues with the 225's?  I don't want any issues.  I know some guys go 245 on the rear, which i like the looks of the wider tire, but just going with 235's to be safe. Am I being too safe with the 235's?
I will have lots more question for this forum, so thanks in advance.

This is my second 1st gen, as I had a '68 a few years back.  Went the corvette route (3) and now back to my favorite muscle car. :)

Will post some pictures up later, as I am from Canada and have to import the car next week. (in storage across the border right now)
