Originality / Thoughts on the undercarriage?
« on: November 25, 2023, 11:44:41 PM »
I’m the second owner of a car from North Carolina. Car is in amazing condition. I just took this video as I’m getting ready to sell it on BaT. Is it me or is this amazing for a 54 year old car?

Originality / Window sticker crossed out item
« on: February 08, 2022, 03:35:42 PM »
I was looking over my original window sticker for my 69 Camaro. It was purchased from original family and is very original.

The N34 line item has a line through it and the car has a black steering wheel vs walnut (April car). Just curious to know if anyone else has seen a window sticker with something crossed out.

Originality / 69 L65 air cleaner / exhaust manifold
« on: June 15, 2021, 09:55:37 PM »
Hi

I am the second owner of a 69 convertible with an L65 engine. The car is well documented and loaded with options. PS,PB,PW, Th350, and AC.

One of the things on the car that I’ve wrestled with originality is the air cleaner. So today I had time to try and figure it out.

Looking at the AIM at the L65, it looks like what I have (no stove pipe). If I look at the M35 option it shows it should have a stove pipe. However, if I look at my exhaust manifold the rivet holes where the stove pipe would go have not been drilled. I checked the manifold part number and it is correct. I also compared it to repro and original ones on eBay and it matches the original. Being that I purchased it from the original owner, my belief (could be wrong) is that it is original.

Looking at the car I’m wondering if the AC option might delete the stove pipe given it would be a very tight fit.

Anyway, I’m looking for experts who can help me figure this out. Not much documentation I can find on this. FYI, it’s an April 69 car if that makes a difference.

Thanks,
Ed

Decoding/Numbers / 69 350/250 L65 with TH350 AC starter number
« on: November 18, 2020, 05:09:08 PM »
I’ve read as much as I can and can’t figure out what the correct starter production part number is. Also, it’s a 05A car, what would be a correct date code?

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Originality / 69 convertible exhaust
« on: October 26, 2020, 01:36:34 PM »
I have a 69 convertible with L65. It’s a very original car. It currently has dual exhaust with a transverse muffler with what appear to be correct chrome tips. Car was delivered in May 69.  From what I’ve read it shouldn’t have a dual exhaust because it’s not an SS and doesn’t have N10 on the window sticker. Is there any way this car could have come with a dual exhaust?

Originality / 1969 350cuin positive wire to junction
« on: June 30, 2020, 09:35:31 PM »
I’m looking at the assembly manual trying to figure out how to route the brown wire that runs from the top mounted battery terminal to the junction box. Right now looking down onto the battery, positive is on the right and the brown wire comes out of the left and goes under the cable around the bottom (front side) of the battery. I don’t think that makes sense.

Originality / Correct size T bolts for leaf springs
« on: May 30, 2020, 06:24:48 PM »
I have a 69 convertible with 5 leaf springs. I removed them in order to install new ones. The T bolts are a bit worn and are about 1.5” in length. I ordered a set for multi leaf and got ones that are closer to 2”. When I look at catalogs they say the 1.5” I have are for mono leaf. I’m fairly sure they are original to the car and fit well.

Can anyone help clear this up?

Originality / 69 350cuin oil fill cap
« on: April 20, 2020, 04:49:11 PM »
Hi

My oil fill cap has a minor leak because the gasket is gone. Can anyone tell me if this is the original and if there’s a way to replace the gasket? And was it painted originally?

It’s currently orange and has “engine oil fill” And AC-FC2 written on it.

Thanks!

Originality / Trim rings for 14x6 XG Rally
« on: April 08, 2020, 11:00:52 PM »
I’ve read everything I could find and can’t determine the correct trim ring part number for 69 XG 14x6 rally wheels. Some say it’s 9796919 and I’ve heard 475019. Car is 69 convertible with 350cu and rally wheel option specified (XJ7)

Any help would be great.

Originality / 69 Inside Rear View Mirror
« on: October 20, 2015, 07:23:04 PM »
I have a 69 convertible i just purchased so I have lots of questions. This car seems to be very original and was a one owner car.

Attached is a picture of the rear view mirror. As you can see the back of the mirror is black and dirty. The writing on the mirror is:

Top: Guide Glare Proof
Bottom: Made in USA

At first I thought it simply may have been painted but when you look close, it looks a bit textured.

Could this be original? Why would the car have a black one vs stainless? I just found a website that sells black ones and they state customer OE style:

http://www.camarocentral.com/1967_1969_Custom_Inner_Rear_View_Mirror_Black_p/int-417d.htm

Thanks - Ed
