Decoding/Numbers / No VIN numbers on block
« on: December 21, 2015, 02:38:25 AM »
Hi,
Recently found a 69 Z/28 in the local desert (SoCal) where it has been sitting for about 20 years. Have no concerns about originality despite being an LOS car, but I cannot see a VIN in either of the two standard locations. Stamp on pad is V10I1DZ, trim tag date 10C. I am pulling the motor to get a better look. The trans has the VIN stamped in two places, both on top of the main case, one in the usual location, the other along the very front edge. Any comments?

Restoration / I need psychological help....
« on: November 15, 2015, 08:52:02 AM »
Hi again,
I'm about to get my car from the paint shop and start putting it together. I have everything sitting, waiting in the garage.
I asked the painter to give me a good driver quality paint job, he said nothing. I continued, meaninglessly, when he told me it would be
about a month and a half. That was six months ago. I've been warned to never rush your painter, but it worked out well cuz rounding up all the parts
and info I needed took that long.
Here my problem. The painter has actually done a show car level paint job, and now I want to know how you drive a car like this around and enjoy it and have fun
in it when it's this nice? I wanted driver quality so I could thrash it a little and not freak out over every little nick. I spend my spare time on a motocross bike, something you deliberately
beat on. This will be the car you see parked way over in the far corner of the parking lot. I'm already thinking I should just sell it. Any advice?
Desperately,
Nervous Novice

Restoration / Frame mount dimensions for 69 302/350
« on: November 07, 2015, 06:53:52 AM »
Hi All,
Read the article on CRG about the different frame and motor mounts used in 67-69, but I need the exact dimensions of the frame mount for the 302. There is a set in the car already, no numbers visible, but they are definitely similar in size and shape. There is a fresh coat of paint on them, the engine bay and undercarriage were restored just before I bought it, so I'd rather not have to remove the paint. (It was going to turned into a drag car!). Thanks for the help.

If you're curious, look forward to seeing a #s, (- -) special paint code 69 Z, nut and bolt resto in Ferrari California red w/white stripes, coming soon.
