General Discussion / Trim tag or VIN problem?
« on: September 22, 2022, 05:03:57 AM »
Ran into a 09D trim tag with a 512502 VIN. Is this possible, CRG's documentation shows the last VIN  for September 68 is 512133, where could there be a discrepancy. Trim tag has no X coding and the production sequence  is NOR113750.

I have a 3892657 block, I understand that it's  a '67 casting but I'm confused with the stamped suffix code. The whole stamping is V04046AP . Any ideas?

Robert Walls says "well this one did it was a plant car and my grandpa drove it home from the plant it never went to the dealer. It’s been in the family sense it left the plant".

Decoding/Numbers / VIN plate/tag installed at what point if production?
« on: February 16, 2020, 10:03:30 PM »
I'm looking at a car which has a NCRS shipping data report, the shipping date is 4/14/1969. I'm wondering at which point in the process is the VIN plate/tag installed on the body. The trim tag date(03E) lines up with the motor production date of 0212DZ(18 days prior), am i wrong in thinking the VIN  should be closer to the TT date?

Decoding/Numbers / 1969 BU with 3894880NF
« on: January 26, 2018, 02:49:23 AM »
I have a 69 BU 12 14 G2 E  and I can't find a reference that includes the 3894880NF casting code. The ring and pinion are correctly stamped for date and ratio.
Thanks

I'm looking at a 1968 sbc engine with the partial vin of 781109579 and the application of v1004B5. I've  looked on Nasty and here but am having no luck with determining what the"B5" suffix relates to, anyone have an idea?

Mild Modifications / best intake for 1968 327/275 hp
« on: August 22, 2015, 03:49:13 AM »
I have a 1968 3914678 HH 327 275hp engine and would like to build it up somewhat. I purchased a pair of 1996 10239906 heads and now need to determine which intake will work the best and if I should change the cam too, I realize that a cam change would involve a fair bit mmore money.
I would like to build this engine on a tight budget(I've spent $550 to date) and hope to achieve 375-400 hp.
