Restoration / Master Cyl / Prop valve brackets
« on: February 25, 2017, 10:52:58 PM »
Hello Members,

I cannot find in any component finish lists, nor can I discern from pictures, what the correct finish is for the brackets that hold the proportioning valve and distribution blocks to the master cylinder. My car is a '67 Norwood front disc brake car  without power assist. No brake booster, just the master cylinder.

Thanks!

Restoration / Heater Box Seals
« on: February 15, 2017, 10:07:46 PM »
Hello Members,

I'd like to know if there's some drawings of where the heater box seals go. The gentleman doing the body restoration pulled the heater box, stripped and blasted it, painted it and returned it for me to put the seals back in. I'm sorta at a loss as to where some of these foam seals go. I thought instructions would be in the kit. I could, as a last ditch, ask him to bale me out and tell me where they go, but to be honest, I feel kinda stupid doin' that. Can anyone direct me to a diagram or drawing for a '67 without air cond? I've been through the AIM backwards and forward.

As always, thanks!

Originality / Ignition Coil Bracket Finish
« on: December 04, 2016, 07:19:21 AM »
Hello Friends!

Can someone tell me what the correct finish for a '67 ignition coil bracket is? Is it bare metal or is it grey oxide? And while we're on the subject - who does show quality grey oxide plating? I'm ready to send my parts off to get them refinished and so I'm wondering if the coil bracket needs to be sent off too.

As always, Thanks a bunch!

Originality / Teflon Tape!!

Hello members!

My question is simple. Was Teflon tape used at the factory? Is it acceptable to use in a restoration that will ultimately be judged?

Restoration / Distributor Vacuum Tube Holder
« on: October 02, 2016, 01:18:02 AM »
Greetings Members!

Can someone verify for me the factory finish of distributor spark advance vacuum tube holder? I believe it to be painted orange from the factory as the "AIM" does not list it as one of the parts added after the motor production line.

Thanks everyone!

Restoration / 67 RS/SS 396 Front Coil Springs
« on: February 05, 2016, 08:22:54 PM »
What did the factory use for front coil springs on the 67 RS/SS 396 cars? I discovered mine had a broken front coil when I disassembled the front end. So I need to order front springs. Where can I get a set of quality made front coil springs for my car? Is there such a thing as GM Licensed Restoration Parts front coil springs? I've come to trust the GM Licensed parts and believe them to be the best thing to buy during a restoration 50 years later. My goal is to have this car completed by it's 50th birthday.

The car is a real, RS/SS L35 coupe with no other factory options other than a radio and manual front disc brakes. The AIM manual says it had YG springs or YJ springs with the F41 RPO. Both the L35 and L78 cars got the same springs. Did the SS cars come with the F41 springs? My front coil tags were long gone by the way and no build sheet was found - so I'm a bit lost. What should I get and from where?

Thanks and appreciation for all those who reply!!

Restoration / 67 Turbo 400 ID TAG and Detailing
« on: January 05, 2016, 08:57:50 PM »
Greetings Everyone!

Does anyone have a picture of a Turbo 400 CC transmission tag? If not, does anyone have a picture (or link) of a 67 T400 tag from the higher horsepower usage CX trans?  My research so far suggests the '67 tag was dark green. If nothing else, a color representation of the dark green color used would be useful if nothing else is available. My hope is to assemble enough elements to make a decal to place over what remains of my ID tag.  Also, does anyone know what color the case stamps were? Were they also dark green or another color? Any help in this project would be greatly appreciated!

Originality / 1967 RS hood release handle black-out
« on: May 25, 2015, 02:48:16 AM »
Hello Group!

I'm in the midst of my '67 RS/SS 396 restoration. my question is the finish of the hood release and handle. I know the hood release was finished from the factory with grey phosphate. I've now learned that the hood release handle was blacked out with semi-gloss black.

My question is this: Where does the semi-gloss black paint end? I want to get this correct.
