Restoration / GM ZZ430 Engine
« on: August 19, 2014, 01:27:58 AM »
Still looking for my first camaro. Not looking for numbers matching vehicle, can't write a check that big. Anyways, came across a 69 camaro with this engine. Don't know a lot other than GM only made 430. Anything I should be aware of with this engine? It's paired with a TH400/TCI transmission.

Decoding/Numbers / Research history of 67 camaro
« on: August 16, 2014, 12:08:44 AM »
Looking to buy a 67 camaro but the seller knows very little about the car as he bought from an estate sale. He claims a lot has been done to it, not by him, his "Professional" opinion. Anyways, I know vins weren't tracked until 1981. Any sites out there where I can find previous owners and maybe find out what was truly done and maybe who did them?

Mild Modifications / 67 camaro converted from straight 6 to BB
« on: August 13, 2014, 02:31:04 AM »
Looking to purchase a 67 camaro. The vin indicates that it was originally built as straight 6. It has since been modified with a 396 engine, muncie 4 speed, 12 bolt Posi rear end, and 3 row radiator with electric fan.

Is there anything I should be leary about when dealing with this type of mod? Anything else that should have been changed or upgraded?

Restoration / 454 engine
« on: December 27, 2013, 02:41:36 AM »
Looking at purchasing a 67 with a 454 engine. I know 454's weren't standard for camaros so I was wondering if there was anything to worry about. It's currently paired with a turbo 400 trans, is that enough?

Mild Modifications / Exhaust 69 camaro
« on: October 26, 2013, 11:29:14 PM »
Two questions:

1- What's the best way to get a more aggressive sound out of my pipes? I currently have a SB 350. My buddy has a 67 with 427 and I get jealous... Don't have the money to upgrade to bigger engine so I need best bang for my buck.

2- what are some cost effective things I could do to my 350 to get a little more HP?

Restoration / Rust question
« on: October 22, 2013, 02:38:39 PM »
Looking at buying my very first gen 1 car. I'm not the most mechanically inclined person. I'm looking at purchasing a 1968 camaro with a stroker engine. I have not seen in person. Seller did tell me the only rust spot he's been able to find is on the "very bottom in the very front of both rear quarter panels". Obviously rust is a bad thing but how bad is it in this spot and what's a ball park price in fixing it? Ill will try and get pictures.

Originality / 1968 camaro clone
« on: October 21, 2013, 02:28:15 AM »
Looking to buy a gen 1 camaro that can have fun with. I have a tight budget. I came across a 68 camaro clone and I really don't know what all that means. Attached are a couple pics and brief description from seller. FYI he's asking 25k. I don't want a numbers matching car.

Decoding/Numbers / 67 camaro vin location

Looking at buying a camaro where the vin is riveted to the left of the master cylinder. I thought 67's had the vin on driver side door frame.

Originality / Missing trim tag

Does a missing trim tag ruin all value on a 1967 camaro? Aside from what the vin says how else can you verify originality?

Mild Modifications / Radiator upgrade
« on: September 29, 2013, 07:14:45 PM »
Just bought a 67 camaro with a 427. She runs pretty hot when idling. Live in Texas where it's pretty warm. I think the radiator is original. What are my options to keep her cool when idling?

Maintenance / Gas type

About to purchase a 67 camaro with a 427 engine. Is 87 octane ok to use for cruising around town?

Mild Modifications / 1967 Camaro v6 engine
« on: September 24, 2013, 12:41:00 AM »
Looking to purchase a 67 camaro. The vin reflects the engine originally being a v6. The current owner selling has a 350 crate 4 barrel carb engine in it. This was the way he purchased.

Anything to worry about? Pretty novice when it comes to engines and gen 1 camaros.

Originality / 1967 camaro with 427
« on: September 22, 2013, 04:38:58 PM »
New to site and trying to be a gen 1 camaro owner.

Through an uncle there's a pretty reputable individual selling a 1967 camaro with a 427. He's claiming that's is 100% original except he rebuilt the 427 engine and new tuxedo black paint. He has no papers but says it was a dealers car. Anyway to find truth? Vin #124377N166208. I'm waiting for a picture of cal tag.

Decoding/Numbers / First time Camaro gen 1 buyer
« on: September 16, 2013, 03:37:06 AM »
Finally saved up enough money to buy one. I've done some research to learn a couple things but I'm a true novice. I found a 1968 Camaro, not matching. Before i make the 6 hr drive I'm just curious if things look correct. I learned from the cal tag that it was originally butternut yellow, black seats, black top ( converted to hardtop at some point l) and a V8. I'm post pics next.
