Here are some pictures my painter sent me the other night when he finished up. I think he knocked it out of the park.

Restoration / 1969 Z28 Cowl
« on: May 13, 2014, 12:52:33 AM »
Does anyone have some good pictures of what the cowl area paint looks like on a car that came with black stripes? My Z28 is Daytona yellow. I have read that Norwood did it different than LA. My car is a Norwood car. Thanks for the help.

Restoration / Z/28 stripes...pin stripes
« on: March 10, 2014, 10:34:33 AM »
When I used the search bar I located one other topic about my question. The question being did the Z/28's come with pin stripes along with their regular stripes? What if it was a Rally/Z/28 does that change things in this case? My dad's car had both the z-stripes along with pin stripes and I thought it looked pretty good. Does anyone have a definitive answer. My cars build date was January/69 if that makes a difference.

Restoration / Tulip Panel Complete
« on: February 10, 2014, 01:58:55 AM »
So when I bought my Z/28 and it arrived from Oklahoma, it was like opening a Christmas present and not knowing what you were getting...or getting into for that matter. When we took the Front Fenders off we found that the drivers side Tulip panel had seen better some better days. My Dad and Uncle came through for me Big time and replaced it and personally I think they knocked it out of the park!

General Discussion / 1969 RS Back up light question
« on: January 26, 2014, 09:31:25 PM »
If someone wouldn't mind helping me locate this it would help out a lot. My Uncle and I cut out the spot for the Rally Sport back up lights in the tail pan today. We used the template I purchased and test fit the lights and they look great.

Here's where I need help. We need to drill the hole that's located in the trunk area (near tail pan) that the pig tail and gromment goes through. In the AIM manual it shows where the back up lights go and it also shows the back up light assembly and pigtail going through the trunk pan but it does not give a precise location where to cut the hole nor the diameter. If any of you guys with Rally sports wouldn't mind helping me out with pictures and possibly the hole diameter that would be a huge help!

Thanks Tommy

Restoration / 1969 Z/28 Leaf Springs
« on: January 15, 2014, 06:29:13 PM »
Can someone tell me the best way to get my Z/28's leaf springs to look new again. I was going to sandblast them. After that what would you guys recommend? I know they are supposed to be a natural metal color.

Restoration / Rally Wheels
« on: December 27, 2013, 08:01:18 PM »
Alright guys if this topic has been visited I apologize but I've gotten into a debate with My Dad and Uncle about the color of the back side of the Rally Wheels on my Z/28. They said they are supposed to be Gray, and Silver on the front side. If I read the Revised edition of the Definitive Book correctly it states semi gloss on the back side. Anyone have any input...

General Discussion / Rotisserie
« on: September 23, 2013, 04:58:46 PM »
Does anyone have a rotisserie they are done with? I have been constantly checking Craigslist with no luck and looked on the internet and not sure of which one to exactly go with. Every manufacturer states theirs is better than the other. Let me know if anyone has any suggestions of has one they are done with.

Thanks Tommy

Restoration / Leaf spring removal
« on: September 18, 2013, 12:14:46 PM »
Can someone tell me how I should go about getting the leaf springs out now that the 3 bolts on each side (that attach to the front of the leaf springs to the floor pan) have seem broke. I attempted to turn them last night and they are just turning and making a "crunching sound". I got the rear shackle bolts out with no problem but the fronts have got me stuck!

General Discussion / 1969 RS and Cowl induction hole
« on: September 17, 2013, 11:26:27 AM »
Does someone know the size of the RS vacuum hole and the size of the cowl induction hole that are located in the fire wall? I was comparing pictures last night of two of my Dad's cars and it doesn't appear that the holes are consistent in their location (close, but not precise).

General Discussion / 1969 DZ BLOCK OR NOT...
« on: September 02, 2013, 06:55:55 PM »
I have a question for you guys out there who do not have your orginal numbers matching engine. When you go to put your car together and look for an engine do you look for a DZ motor to help with the resale value or do you put a regular GM block in there? Im trying to keep the resale value up and not do too much damage to the value or orginality of the car. Thanks guys

General Discussion / 1969 Z/28 to Rallysport Z/28
« on: June 23, 2013, 02:41:30 PM »
I hoping to get some opinions on this. I am purchasing that Z/28 and it is a true X-33 car thanks to you guys confirming it for me. My questions is I really want to make the car into a Rally/Z. How does that affect the value of changing the car into something it wasn't. My Dad had an X-33 Rally/Z so I'm wanting to make it just like his. I plan on keeping the car forever, but in the rare case I would have to sell I would have to disclose that it's not a real Rally sport but yet a Real Z/28. Opinions please...
