Restoration / 1967 Camaro Power Window Regulators
« on: June 07, 2015, 05:41:50 AM »
Hello everyone- my driverside power window regulator finally gave out. Does anyone rebuilt window regulators? They seem to be hard to find.  If no one does, can you recommend a regulator that will bolt up in the factory power window holes?

Thanks,

Jerry

« on: August 27, 2014, 11:48:23 PM »
Hello everyone- I have spent a couple days trying to determine what is the correct starter for my 1967 SS with Powerglide. I have seen the following part numbers:

1108338
1107496
1107320

Which one is correct and why?  I have been getting different numbers all over the place.

Thank you very much. I appreciate the help.

Restoration / Date Coded Reproduction Glass and DOT’s
« on: May 23, 2014, 05:24:16 PM »
I wanted to share my experience with the group with the hopes of saving members time, money, and spare you from unnecessary frustration.  I have been to hell and back with trying to find good quality date coded glass.  After being ripped off and wasting a lot of time and money, I have learned that you can get American made repop glass from Pilkington Classic, but you have to specifically ask for it.  They get their American made glass from Auto Temp Inc (ATI) in Ohio (DOT 509).  The glass is excellent and doesn’t have waves and excessive tempering marks.  It is worth the money. The date coding is great too.  However, if you don’t specifically ask for it you can get some overseas glass from them. They sometimes get overseas glass when ATI is on back order.

Most overseas glass is wavy and has severe tempering marks.  This is what is sold by many of the other vendors (DOT 516).  In all honesty, if you are not building a concourse car or a nut and bolt restoration, the overseas stuff will probably be just fine, but if you are looking for excellent glass that is close to original- stick with Pilkington Classic and specifically ask for Auto Temp Inc Glass (ATI) (DOT 509).

Restoration / 1967 Camaro Worm Gear Clamps for A/C Lines
« on: March 04, 2014, 05:06:46 AM »
Hello everyone- I am nearing the end of my restoration and I am getting ready to get the A/C finalized.  I had the A6 compressor rebuilt, the POA rebuilt, the Dryer cut and rebuilt and the condenser and evaporator flushed. The system is clean.  I am going to be using R12 again-quite expensive.  Here is my question:

I am torn on whether to use the original style worm gear clamps or have the pressure fittings put on.  I am going for a concourse restoration but I also want the A/C to work.  Has anyone had experience with the original clamps on todays A/C hoses? I understand the hoses, with the nylon inside, leak over time with the worm clamps.

I appreciate any advice the group can provide.

Thanks,

Jerry

Restoration / 1967 Camaro Quadrajet 7037202 (AIR System)
« on: January 20, 2014, 10:33:29 PM »
Hello everyone- I was wondering if I could get some help from the group. I have been looking for the correct quadrajet for my 1967 Camaro.  I recently purchased two 7037202 carbs.  The second one was purchased because the baseplate on the first one was questionable.  My question is what is the correct linkage for the secondaries.  As you can see in the photos, the two carbs have two different types.  Does anyone know their qudrajets pretty well or has photos of an un-molested 7037202.

Thank you,

Jerry

Restoration / 1967 Camaro L48/ 350 AIR Oil Fill Tube PCV line
« on: November 17, 2013, 05:22:19 AM »
Hello everyone- I was wondering if anyone has a photo of the metal line that connects to the screw in PCV on the oil fill tube and then connects to the front vacuum port on the base of the quadrajet.  I think the line may be 3/8.

Thank you,

Jerry

Restoration / Pilkington Glass
« on: November 10, 2013, 04:28:36 PM »
Hello everyone- I went to a glass company that is highly reccomended on many of the forums. As of right now, I am being told by them that the temper stripping is normal ( see photo). When I tilt the glass up it lessens but is still visible. It is good in direct sunlight.

Here is my problem/ question. Is this as good as it gets?  I would expect some of this on back glass but not side. Is Pilkington glass better?  Has anyone purchased Pilkington glass lately? Does it look the same. If so, can you share the DOT number off the side glass. This glass is made in Thailand.

I really appreciate the help. I don't want to purchase the Pilkington glass and it be the same.

Thanks,

Jerry

Maintenance / 1967 Camaro Factory Tach Not Working Properly
« on: October 06, 2013, 10:58:23 PM »
Hello everyone- I am having trouble with my tach. It works, but it is giving a high reading and when I give it gas it really jumps high. I put an analog tach to it at the same time. The analog reads 800 and the factory tach reads 1500. I recently had it services at Redline- good guy. It seemed to work initially but went erratic again. I have done the following:

Confirmed i have power to cluster- all lights work, blinkers, etc.
Changed the coil
Took each screw out of the housing cleaned and put back

When the tach broke the first time, he indicated the ground wire in the back of the tach came loose. He fixed it and it seems still connected. Am i missing something. Is there another ground i am not aware of?

Thank you. I appreciate the help.

Hello everyone- i installed an original 67 tilt column and I am having one heck of a time getting the horn to work properly. Can I use the original cancel cam from my non-tilt.  I put a new one that I got from Ricks in (HR-17).  The horn works when you press the button, but when I turn the wheel left or right, the horn comes on. Please help. I thought I bought the correct cancel cam?

Thanks,

Jerry

Originality / 1967 SS Camaro Closed Air System Air Cleaner
« on: July 11, 2013, 04:38:15 PM »
Hello everyone- I am trying to determine if the air cleaner base came semi black or gloss black from the factory.  The only thing I can find on the net is a 67 Z28 Air cleaner should be gloss black.  Is it the same for SS?

Thank you for your time.

Decoding/Numbers / 1967 Camaro SS Hood/ Underhood Lamp
« on: June 13, 2013, 12:11:38 AM »
Hello everyone- I am new to the group.  I am doing the finishing touches on my restoration and I wanted to add an underhood lamp.  However, I don't see any exisiting holes for the lamp.  The manual shows a hole on the drivers side support beam.  The hood is original.  Did 67 SS Camaros come with an optional underhood lamp.

Thank you very much.

Jerry
