Originality / Correct 69 drivers side mirror
« on: March 19, 2017, 09:27:59 PM »
I need a new drivers side mirror FOR A 69 and want to get the correct one. From what I gather, the ribbed one is correct? Should the rib go over the end? Should the point have a dimple or be flat?the price for the repop is all over the place, but the gm ones look like a rib and a dimple

Originality / 103 research octane sticker ZL-1
« on: June 01, 2015, 01:48:31 AM »
I know the L88 vettes came with the sticker on the console, but did the zl-1s use it or is it like the caution fan sticker? If so, where did it go? Console if equipped or the glove box door on non console cars?

Originality / ZL1 timing cover and oil pan bolts
« on: March 25, 2015, 01:49:43 AM »
Being that the zl1 motor only had the timing cover and oil pan to paint black along with the water pump, were these parts painted off of the motor? If so, we're the bolts black phosphated? Head markings? Captive washer?

Originality / 67 dg ralley wheel w space saver spare
« on: February 19, 2012, 12:05:45 AM »
I spoke with the original owner of a 67 Camaro that he bought new. He believes that the space saver spare he showed me came in the trunk. From what I have read, no space saver was available in 67. The rim is a 14x6 ralley with the bf Goodrich 7.35 x 14  tire, the rim is silver on the front and black on the back with the silver over spray and the original micro wheel weight. Keep in mind this retired gm executive raced this car from the beginning and it has never been inflated. Can you remount a space saver tire? The only markings on the wheel are the DG next to the valve stem. I have never seen a ralley rim on a space saver tire

General Discussion / 69 mono leaf service pack spring?
« on: August 31, 2011, 11:37:50 PM »
I have a mono leaf spring that measures 2 1/4 wide at the center and 2 3/4 at each end. The only markings on the spring are the number 3 on one end and the letter G on the top. It was given to me by an old time drag racer and tells me it was a service pack spring for drag racing. I am running my Copo on the f70/14 Goodyear polyglas tires . Has anybody heard of such a thing? The 5 leaf spring in my car is of unknown origin and I am having to run a 1 inch lowering block to get a decent stance. The car will not 60 foot, 2.20.  I run the car in pure stock and cannot run cal tracks or other bars. Any ideas out there?

General Discussion / Copo wheel backspacing
« on: July 20, 2011, 10:54:51 PM »
Did the 14x7 Copo XT wheels come with 4inch backspacing? Will 4.25 inch backspacing and F70-14 not rub with a stock ride height car? What about G70-14?The only 14x7 repops come in 4.25 bs. I have searched the archives and found nothing on this!

General Discussion / 69 Copo front end too low
« on: July 10, 2011, 07:27:53 PM »
I bought the car with 2 inch drop spindles and 235/60/15 front tires and unknown new springs, I assume they are small block springs. The front end is too low and the inside of the tires rubs on turns against the tie rod ends. Will 14x7 steel wheels and f70/14 polyglas tires fix the problem?I think I need either regular spindles or big block springs? Hopefully not both. Can somebody give me part numbers of the springs? Or recommendations on which way to go

General Discussion / 69 Copo with power steering issues
« on: July 08, 2011, 12:14:01 AM »
Fresh restoration that was started by the old owner. He put on 2 inch drop spindles, new pitman arm and power steering. The first pump leaked, so I used the tank for the big block and put it on the rebuilt pump that came with the car. I have bled the system with the wheels in the air, and still have no power steering, it makes a noise at full lock . The first pump acted the same except it made more noise. I have the pressure hose on the lower hole into the box, that is what it looks like in the assembly manual. Pump is 2.3 turns lock to lock and has box number 5691676.I will be taking it in for the initial front end alignment. Any ideas? Could this box be bad ? am  I missing something? Is it possible I have the hoses on backwards? I thought they used different size fittings?
