Restoration / Under hood color
« on: June 28, 2017, 09:12:49 PM »
All,

Finally read to go to paint.

Is the under side of the hood body color or black? I had always thought body color but someone recently told me otherwise. Just want to make sure.

Thanks!

Restoration / 67 Camaro Rear Seat - RS
« on: December 18, 2014, 10:13:17 AM »
All,

I need to replace my rear seat, 67 Camaro RS. My dad found one out of a 68 Firebird that is in pretty solid shape. Will it interchange both in fit as well as upholstery?

Thanks,
Matt

Restoration / Original versus New Sheet Metal
« on: May 10, 2014, 10:49:08 AM »
All,

I am looking for some thoughts on the lengths I should go to save the original sheet metal. I don't have a numbers matching car, but do have a correctly coded SS350 for what would have come with the car. I have all original sheet metal at the moment (but did pick up a new SS hood as the first one was really damaged badly). Both front fenders and the driver side door have a fair amout body work that would need to be done as with the front valance.

How much should I fight to save the original sheet metal versus just buying new? Where do folks recommend for quality/fit if I do go with new?

Thanks,
Matt

Restoration / '67 Roofrail Weather Strip Channels
« on: April 09, 2014, 10:29:08 AM »
All, what is the best adhesive product to install the roofrail weather strip channels above the windows? A wide flat foam type strip is what came off of it originally.

Thoughts?
Thanks.

Restoration / '67 Camaro Disc Brake Hardware
« on: December 05, 2013, 02:32:15 PM »
Folks,

I am looking for the correct brackets to use for the union between the brake hoses at the calipers and break lines for the front disc brakes affixed to the sub-frame. I am seeing different ones for drum than disc but frequently find that the companies lump in the '67 with the '68 when they don't know exactly what '67 requires.

Thoughts?

Restoration / Firewall Restoration
« on: October 16, 2013, 07:32:23 PM »
All,

Recently had my body blasted then laid a coat of the epoxy primer over it. I am ready to shoot the firewall and was wondering if there is any straight forward way of sanding it to receive the paint. Any kind of orbital or vibration sander appears impossible to use. Sanding by hand seems to run the risk of creating an uneven surface prior to paint.

Might be over thinking this. Is hand sanding sufficient? There is some peel with this primer and the primer is not forgiving. It is going to take some work.

Thanks,
Matt

Restoration / Sill Paint
« on: October 13, 2013, 03:42:20 PM »
All,

For the satin black that went on the rockers for RS cars, light exterior paint, did the upper edge fold into the car so you actually saw the black on the near horizontal when you opened the door or did it stop at the effective bottom of the door when the door was shut?

Thanks,

Restoration / Trunk Restoration
« on: October 13, 2013, 03:24:26 PM »
All,

Planning on putting the sound deadening material on the trunk floor under the mat. Can I assume that from the floor up, to the drip rails, that the speckled paint was used to include inner fender well, back of back seat bracing, structure between inner fenders and trunk lid hinges, etc...?

Thanks.

Restoration / Re-upholstering '67 front seats
« on: October 03, 2013, 10:51:47 PM »
Any thoughts/recommendations on whether I should tackle the re-upholstering of my deluxe seats considering the fact that I have never done it before? Is there a knack that only the pro's have or can a guy watch a youtube video and figure it out?

I have the new cushions and seat covers already. I also have the hooks and pliers needed.

A local guy, who is very reputable, told me that for him to do it, with me providing all materials, would run me $225 for the front seats.

Thoughts?
Thanks,
Matt

Originality / Early '67 Camaro/SS
« on: August 31, 2013, 11:58:48 AM »
Folks,

My Camaro was built in early Nov '66. I am seeing places where a distinction is made before and after 16 Nov '66 with respect to Camaros.

Does anyone have a list as to what changes were made to the Camaro and specifically the SS Camaro after 16 Nov '66?

For instance, did rally wheels arrive on the scene then?

Thanks,
Matt

Restoration / Speedometer Gear
« on: August 30, 2013, 11:15:32 PM »
All,

I had received some info on this several months back but can't seem to locate it.

My car was a factory 12-bolt, 3:31 gears and I just pulled out the speedometer gear, red w/21 teeth, original Powerglide.

I found elsewhere that a 4:10 had 25 teeth.

I have changed out the gears to 3:73. Can I deduce then that the new speedometer gear would be 23 teeth?

Thanks,
Matt

Restoration / Sound Dampening
« on: August 30, 2013, 03:37:52 PM »
All,

What is the best material for the money to obtain to do the sound dampening materials in the car? Hush Mat? Dynamat? Acousti-shield?

Is it worth it purchasing the form fitting kits or to buy 2x2 squares or something like that?

Thanks,
Matt

Restoration / Wiring

All,

Is it the consensus that American Auto Wire is the best place to obtain complete wiring harnesses? Are their prices reasonable?

Matt

Restoration / '67 Power Disc Automatic Brake Pedal
« on: January 06, 2013, 10:50:16 AM »
All,

Did the automatic brake pedal for '67 Disc Brake equipped Camaros have the circular plate in the center of the pedal calling out Disc Brakes like '68 and '69?

Thanks,
Matt
