General Discussion / What colour is this?
« on: April 25, 2023, 01:07:27 PM »
A friend had an old picture of a car his girlfriend's parents bought in 1969 & traded in 1972. I'm thinking this car is Asure Turquoise. Any thoughts? Thank you, Joe

« on: December 05, 2022, 04:13:34 PM »
I'm having Dan Patch restore some 477 & 851 shocks for my 68 Z/28. Was the shock codes for these 2 shocks the same for 1968 & 1969? UN & PS? Thank you, Joe

Research Topics & Reports / Fuel Pump Research
« on: August 29, 2022, 10:07:28 PM »
I'm seeing more & more discussion about fuel pumps & realize we need to know more. I've been researching fuel pumps through as many avenues as I can think of. I've created a list that Kurt will share. What I need is more input from anybody that might have original pumps. The part number, date code & known exact application would be wonderful. Information from just the flange only will always help. The picture is Guy Youngdell's original pump from his 12k miles 375hp April 1969 Built. Thank you, Joe

Originality / 40727 fuel pump
« on: August 16, 2022, 03:46:58 PM »
Is there such a thing as a 40727 fuel pump with a 2 letter date code? Everything I've observed is a Jullian date which was after 1971. Thank you, Joe

On a 1967/1968 4 speed Muncie shifter, what is used to line up the gates during shift rod adjustment? I see a round area & a flat area in the middle. Thank you, Joe

I'm sure several here have compared reproduction spring ring battery cables to originals. Would someone please discuss what was observed? Pictures would be wonderful. Thank you, Joe

Originality / Diverter valve sticker
« on: May 25, 2022, 02:22:50 PM »
When did diverter valves start receiving sticker instead of an ink stamp? My 8/28/1969 396 has always had a sticker. Thank you, Joe

Did the 302 in 1969 use small reinforcement plates where the valve cover bolts go like on the steel cover engines? Thank you, Joe

Originality / 1968 Front bumper hardware
« on: April 13, 2022, 06:16:09 PM »
I'm putting a NOS front bumper on my 68 & on the corner bolts there are flat washers between the rubber bushing & the special nut, pn 128144. I could use a spec on that washer if anybody has one. Both of mine are different but one could be correct. Thank you, Joe

« on: March 29, 2022, 11:55:48 PM »
Does anybody know if the bolt (274430) that holds the heat shields on a small block is the same bolt that's used on the oil pan or timing cover? Thank you, Joe

« on: March 24, 2022, 06:13:05 PM »
How does the carpet, shift boot, & retainer go. Does the boot go against the floor, carpet on top of the boot & retainer hold it all down when it has a console? Thank you, Joe

Originality / 1968 front bumper
« on: January 07, 2022, 04:21:45 PM »
In the AIM book it calls for a small 2 hole bracket (3930189) with a rectangular snubber (3929955) that bolts to the inside center of the front bumper. Did all 68s have that piece....at both plants? Thank you, Joe

Maintenance / Metering valve blow out
« on: October 20, 2021, 03:48:09 PM »
1969 Camaro. The metering valve, the round valve below the master cyl has blown out twice where the boot is at. Once when I rebuilt & once after having it professionally rebuilt. Funny thing is it never leaked till I rebuilt it. I had the master cyl sleeved & rebuilt. I did all the calipers & wheel cyl myself. I haven't touched the prop valve (frame rail) or the junction where all the lines come together below the metering valve. Brakes working on all 4 corners. Any ideas what might be going on? Thank you, Joe
