General Discussion / Another 67 coupe bites the dust
« on: December 20, 2016, 04:28:10 AM »
Actually, it bit the dust in 1980. I'm just laying it to rest. I just pulled a 67 coupe out of the woods. It was totaled in 1980 and has been sitting since. It belonged to the cousin of the gentleman whose property I pulled it from. A little bit more than a shell, I'm told it was a 67 RS 327 4 speed car. Of course the trim tag was long gone as well as the vin tag in the dash. I removed the heater core and found the hidden vin 7N247535. Not sure if it was White or light yellow. At least some of it will continue on in a 68 coupe I'm trying to resurrect.

Originality / 68 RS rocker paint process questions
« on: April 29, 2016, 12:03:45 AM »
My shop has questions about how to proceed with the RS rocker paint.

We've already established that the paint is applied through the middle of the drilled holes for the trim before the trim is mounted. We've also established that it's done before the fenders go on. So:

Does anyone have the steps for painting the lower rocker panels the semi-gloss black?
How well is it masked?
Does the bottom of the backside of the door get painted completely black as well or is it only overspray?
If before fenders go on, how much of backside of lower fender gets painted?

Thanks for any assistance anyone can offer.

Restoration / Foams vs Stitching
« on: February 07, 2013, 02:10:39 AM »
I've got PUI 68 Deluxe Houndstooth seatcovers and ACI Deluxe Foams. At the base of the seatback foam the distance across is 12 inches for the channel that the hogrings go in to hold the seatcover tails. The base of the back of the seatcover tails that the rings attach to are 11 inches across. Which is correct the 12 inches for the foam or the 11 inches for the seat tails?

Restoration / 1968 SS350 Front Springs & Brake ID Tags/Tape
« on: July 23, 2011, 03:12:25 PM »
Ok, so I've re-assembled my 68 subframe. It's a L48 w/ C60 Ac. I purchased the coil springs from Rick's. I've searched for spring rate ID tags/ tape with no luck. Did 68's have ID tags on the springs, and does anyone make a nice re-production? From other info I've seen here I should be looking for YZ tags or YV Tags.

I also have disc brakes and have seen that the backing plate is supposed to have a CS sticker, does anyone know where on the backing plate this should be applied.

Thanks for any help you can offer.

Bob

Originality / Required options for 68 RS/SS packages
« on: March 18, 2011, 05:40:44 PM »
Sorry if this has been brought up before, I've spent about 30 minutes and 15-20 pages of searching the threads and can't seem to find answers.

I know that Super Sport Package included special engine, dual exhaust, springs, tires, clutch, radiator, transmission (if 4-speed), axle and u-joints, starting motor, hood, badging, and stripes. Here's the question in 1968 did SS require power steering, power brakes, or disc brakes? Were there options required if other options were purchased, ie if you bought disc brakes did they have to be power?

And Rally Sport Package included Z21 plus fullwidth grille with concealed headlights, bright lower body side moldings instead of standard body side moldings, RS grille emblem (or SS), parking/turn signal lights below front bumper, Rally Sport front fender Z22 nameplate in place of Camaro nameplate, black finished lower body (except certain dark colors), RS (or SS) fuel cap, dual-unit taillights, backup lights below rear bumper, RS horn button (except Z23, Z87, N30,N34).

What about console guages weren't they required?

Front and rear spoilers- were they independant of either package?

Thanks for any info you can provide.
