Decoding/Numbers / X-22: How to determine if car was an L78 , L35 or L34?

1969 X-22 SS396 - It does not have the original motor/drive train in it. Are there any clues I can look for to determine what type of 396 it came with?

I am it the process of getting a records request from OH DMV - hopefully i can track down the original owners and see if they have any original documentation etc.

It does have the following:
- X-22 on cowl tag - build date matches the VIN code sequence
- Big Block heater
- Proportioning valve on sub frame
- Original fuel take with single fuel line sending unit

Did all X-22 cars come with the Z22 Rally Sport option?
