General Discussion / your going the wrong way! 3.31 gears in a 302 powered 69?

I know, I know    currently has 4.10s in it now and its fine around town but get it up on hwy @4000 rpm and I'm still being run over so I'm going to 3.31s it has a M20 so its worse than 4.10x2.52 that I started with first gear ratio was 9.02 and now will be 8.34:1 (a little better than a 3.73 with a M21 @8.21) will this thing be a pig in the city now? or ? will it be tollerable?  future plans is to sideline the 302 for a 383 and that should be fine with 3.31
thoughts guys?

Restoration / rear end for my car dating info help experts please

I have a 09C 1969 - later production car and the original rear is missing my vin is 6859XX I have found a BU rear with assembly date of 09-16 what are the opinions is this too close to build date for my car? I know 2-3 weeks earlier would be optimum but there aren't many of these coming along nowadays- thoughts?

Originality / 69 tilt column research looking for original info

My 69 has a tilt in it and it needs some work, its not working well and needs repainted and I was trying to confirm if is a real camaro tilt or not, I know these were similar for several years but would like to know what they look like- correct for 1969 I have searched here and Camaros.net and very little info and the best thread I found was here http://www.camaros.org/forum/index.php?topic=10632.0
But this looks like a nicely built one but is it right? any pics or info of orig 69 columns would be appreciated

Restoration / 1969 radio delete plate and speaker carboard

I have added a late model radio and installed it in the glove box and was planning on adding a radio delete plate in place of the AM radio. My car has the woodgrain accents and the detete plate I have is just black plastic, would an original have the woodgrain? and even if not I would like to add it so it matches the driver side. also does anyone have pictures of the speaker blockoff cardboard and installed?  thoughts?

Originality / 69 Z 302 pulley finishes

Hello I have been looking/searching here and Camaro.net and really havent seen what i was looking for. I looked at Jerrys book and its an early one, whats the correct finish on the pulleys is it 60% gloss paint? or Phosphate? if paint, what have Y'all been using? I'm about to put mine together and am trying to do this right the first time- just really seeing if any new info had came up

I just bought a set of 0 rockers for my 302 and a few of them have a different style 0 some large and some small - I was wondering what the difference was if any?

Originality / Z28 fuel line support bracket -JohnZ?

I was looking at a metal bracket that mounts to the carb mount stud and bolts around the fuel line - I have seen repops and OEM on ebay and i saw JohnZ's engine picture and his car does not have this - was this standard and discarded by most? I have searched and cant find much on this detail

Restoration / Original Muncie bolts - head markings info

I have the Muncie out of my 69 and was searching here and Team Camaro to find what bolts are correct for the Muncie trans, please if you have any pictures or information on any 67-69 Muncie's please share the information. I know my side cover bolts are incorrect, I am just trying to make it closer to day 1- thanks all!

Restoration / 302 engine build piston recomendations

Hello guys I am looking for recomendations for pistons for my 302 +.030 build - I have searched, I spoke to Jerry M (he recomended J/E pistons but I cant see $1200$ for a set of race pistons for a driver) I know they say TRW or Speed pro have wrong ring grooves 1/16" vs 3/32" but is there anything wrong with them? plans for my car is for cruise nights and some trips in my car no drag racing (not official anyway    )  what have Y'all used on yours and pros/cons? and whats the stock dome height .250? I want to be at 11:1 no decking done to DZ block

Restoration / windshield lower trim screw size and type info needed

ready to install windshield trim and as you know the lower trim has clips and screws to attach to the cowl. I have searched forums and venders and what i have found is they are 5/16" hex head screws anybody know what size screw and the length? pics would be nice if you have any too!
