Restoration / 1969 Hood Hinge Color
« on: February 25, 2012, 07:18:14 PM »
My wife and I are restoring my 1969 camaro.  We would like to use the correct color for the hood hinges.  We purchased OER paint, dark grey phosphate.  This looks a little dark.  Would someone know if there is a correct paint for the hinges?
Thanks

Restoration / Cylinder Heads
« on: January 30, 2011, 08:48:16 PM »
Hi.
We have a set of 1969, 186 heads that are 1.94 valves, these heads have never been machined.  We would like to open them up to 2.02.  Is this a good idea, or for some reason a bad one?  Also, would you have a suggestion for a very good machine shop.

Mild Modifications / Front & rear maximum tire size
« on: November 09, 2009, 04:43:41 PM »
Hi
Restoring 1969Z.  We have stock 15 x 7" rally factory rims & standard suspension.  What is the maximum size (width) tire that can be used without interference on this car?
I saw a couple of old postings that talked about the rears, but not the fronts.

Thanks in advance.

For quality puposes, is it better to use reproduction or look for NOS items? This is for a 1969 Z28.

General Discussion / cylinder heads

Hi
Thanks for help the last time around.  We had a response that brings up another question.
The photo of a pair of cylinder heads show threaded rocker arm studs.  I think they should be pressed in for the 1969 Z28.  Which is correct?

Originality / front grill & bezels
« on: June 05, 2009, 08:20:25 PM »
For a 1969 Z28 standard front grill:
1.   What color should the grill be?
2.   What color should the bezels be?
3.   Should there be chrome on any part of the grill?
4.   Should there be chrome on any part of the bezels?

Thanks
