General Discussion / '68 mo block and other gear

Just a "what would you guys do" question.

I sold my '68 Z/28 a while back, the current engine in the car was 350 Vette engine(correct Vette suffix, not a Craigslist Vette engine ).

I asked the guy who bought it if he was interested in the original engine and he said NO   I did ask for a nominal amount but I don't recall how much, and I did ask him if he would like to swap for the 350.

Now i have a block(std bore), crank, rods, pistons, heads and a balancer.

Would you guys hang on to them in anticipation that an owner/next owner may come looking for them one day.........or just move them on?

This is not a for sale ad so please don't ask

Originality / Balancer ID please.

This balancer came with my 68 Z28 and I'm wondering if it's original to the car or an aftermarket guy. It's 8" by 1 and 11/16ths". There are no part numbers on it or many markings of any description

It's probably blatantly obvious to you guys in the know......but is this shifter original to the Sag or is it a Muncie shifter to suit an early Camaro

Decoding/Numbers / 1111467 build time frame?

Can someone tell me what time frame a 1111467 7J3 distributor would suit please?
If it doesn't stretch as far as my build I may have to look at swapping

Originality / '68 Z parts/date info please

In the near future I am looking to try and source some of the hard to find engine parts for my 1968 05a Z/28. I will be looking for a Distributor,alternator,Holley and an intake. I know these items are going to be expensive..........but you have to start somewhere

What I am after is a date range for each item to suit my build date. any help would be greatly appreciated..........and info on any other dated items would also be a great help(I'm not sure what else is dated).

Restoration / Removing trim tag from Z/28

Recently I bought a '68 Z/28.......a very rusty/butchered example. Hopefully in the next few months I will be purchasing some steel and am looking at having the car dipped/stripped..................What is the ettiquette for removal of the tag? Not removing it is not an option(novice opinion)I believe, as it has a rather large piece of rust next to it where the join is that will need to be repaired.

Opinions please.
