I have a 67 SS350 4 speed that's pretty much a stock restoration.  The quadrajet is in bad shape and the carb shop says it's not worth rebuilding.  I'm considering getting something new to replace it.  I want to drive the car so I'm looking for something that would just replace the quadrajet.

I've seen some new replacements that sell for around $220 that look pretty cheap.  Not leaning towards that.  I may go for another rebuilt quadrajet but for now I'm considering my options.

I'm wondering what brands and models others are using for an otherwise stock setup.  Currently using the Qjet 7027203.

Thanks.

Maintenance / 67 Electrical Problem
« on: August 09, 2019, 12:39:56 AM »
I was connecting an add-on electrical device to the  ign-fused terminal on the fuse block of my 67.  Once everything was connected I turned the key on sending power to the device.  I heard a slight "sizzling" sound in the device indicating a short and disconnected it immediately.  Verified that there was some intermittent contact with an ohm meter.  The fuse didn't blow.  Tested good.

Now the brake light and under dash courtesy lights stay on.  Dash lights are off.  All worked well before.  Fuses all look good and voltages test good at the fuse box.

Strangely enough, when I remove that 10 amp fuse at the ign-fused circuit the courtesy lights still stay on but the brake light goes out.  Everything else seems to be working.

Any suggestions?

Restoration / Coil Spring Spacers
« on: October 04, 2018, 11:39:14 PM »
I need to raise the front end of my 67 small block about an inch (measuring at the wheel opening at it's highest point).  I'm guessing 5/8 or 3/4 inch spacers would accomplish that.  I know a 1 inch spacer will net more than a 1 inch rise.  I'd appreciate some comments from those who have done this.  Open to suggestions.  Thanks.

Restoration / 67 Std vs. Dlx door lock mechanism

Can anyone give me the two measurements of the pins that the handles mount to (std and deluxe)?  Or better yet, pictures of them.  I need to make sure I have the right ones for a 67 Deluxe interior.  Thanks.

Can anyone recommend a good padding to use when restoring the rear deluxe interior armrests on a 67?  Can't be too thick.

Maintenance / 67 stop lamp fail
« on: July 19, 2016, 09:09:44 PM »
Could someone please provide a good stop lamp diagram showing all of the circuitry?  My brake lights stopped working and the diagrams I have don't show everything.  The tail lights are still working, as are the 4 way flashers and turn signals.  There's power at one side of the connector that connects to the brake switch and the switch checks good.  The Stop/Hazard fuse is good.  Makes no sense to me so I really could use a good diagram.  The only thing I haven't done is check the bulbs but they ALL stopped working so I haven't bothered.  Though I probably should since everything else has failed to fix the problem.

Restoration / 67 RS Parking Light routing
« on: June 27, 2016, 01:31:27 AM »
I checked the AIM but it's not clear at all.  It shows the wires from the parking lights being routed through a hole in the inner fender that I'll need to drill out.  Can anyone tell me exactly where this hole should be drilled?  Pictures would be very helpful.  Thanks.

Restoration / Pin on vent window handle

What's the best way to insert that pin?  It's a very tight fit.  Wouldn't want to damage anything.

Thanks.

Restoration / 67 Vent Window
« on: January 17, 2012, 10:11:01 PM »
Can anybody please recommend a supplier for some black rubber channel to go on my vent windows?  I'm talking about the chrome edge that attaches directly on the glass.  Nobody seems to carry that in the Camaro catalogs but I figure it must be available somewhere.

Thanks.

Restoration / Roof Rail Weatherstrip Install
« on: January 09, 2012, 06:40:52 PM »
As the restoration of my 67 Camaro continues slowly, I'm now installing the metal rails that fit under the roof rail that hold the weatherstrip that the top edge of the side glass will fit against.

I need to know what you guys have used to seal the metal strips to the body.  I don't have those old parts here to look at so I need to know the best way to seal those strips before I screw them in and put the weatherstripping on.

The new metal looks good but the curve is not as sharp over the rear side glass.  Not sure how I'm going to prevent the thing from buckling.  Any suggestions on that?

Thanks for your assistance.

Restoration / New gauge wiring problem on 67
« on: June 15, 2011, 01:27:42 AM »
I've narrowed this problem down but haven't pinpointed the exact problem yet.  I'm restoring a 67 RS/SS 350.  Right now I'm putting all of the dash stuff in.

Basically, the problem is this.  To make a long story short, the tach and gauge lights are shorting out when I completely install the gauges (all screws in and tight).  When the pod is loose at the bottom (those  4 screws out) and the bottom of the pod is out a little everything works fine.  But with the engine running, the tach working, and the gauge lights on, when I push the pod in at the bottom to it's mounting position the gauge lights go out and the tach drops to zero.

I don't see anything behind the pod to cause this.  I see no cracks in the printed circuit.  Ground is good.  Harnesses and printed circuit are new.  As I said, everything is working until I push the bottom of the pod in to where the screws will go in.

I had to quit on this today before I got far enough to identify the exact problem.  Obviouisly there is some contact being made that I haven't found yet.  I was just wondering if anyone had seen this before and could tell me what they found.

Restoration / 67 Rear Speaker Option
« on: October 03, 2010, 10:15:52 PM »
My 67 has the rear speaker option.  I was wondering what is the correct way to set it up.  Do I just cut an oval hole in the package tray where the speaker goes?  The speaker grill will cover it up.  I haven't actually seen one up close so any help is appreciated.

Thanks.
