General Discussion / Clue It Was GM employee car new
« on: December 01, 2011, 12:29:43 AM »
Had the front and back glass installed in my car yesterday. The glass guy said it was probably purchased new by a GM emplyee, because the studs that hold the clips for the stainless moulding were about 3 inches apart around both window channels. He said it was common for an employee to follow the car through the plant and get the guys to include extra studs. Never heard of this and think it might be someone's imagination. Anyone?

General Discussion / My '68 Camaro In Synergy Green
« on: November 29, 2011, 06:12:26 PM »
Here's a video showing my car being painted. Long process. 3 base coats of silver, 3 color coats of green, and 3 coats of clear. Video doesn't really capture the green fully.

General Discussion / Opinions on this '68
« on: October 25, 2011, 02:09:41 AM »
Being in Canada it's pretty hard to find survivor cars because of the climate and salt that was used on roads. Just came across this "68 RS. I know quite a few of the regulars on here can spot things incorrect to a true survivor. How does this one look? It's less than an hour from where I live.

General Discussion / This Looks Very Wierd
« on: September 09, 2011, 02:33:14 AM »
Looking through '68 Camaros on Ebay to get an idea on the proper spacing for the front bumper below the grill. Ran across this car.  The location of the bumper looks totally out of whack, as well as the side marker lights and fender extensions.

General Discussion / First Gen Synergy Green
« on: August 05, 2011, 02:16:06 AM »
My 68 coupe is almost ready for paint, and I'm doing it in the 2010 Camaro Synergy Green paint. Has anyone seen a first gen painted in this color? I think it will look good but would love to see what one looks like now.

General Discussion / Engine Mount Removal?
« on: July 03, 2011, 02:40:03 AM »
Took out my inline 6-cylinder today to swap in a small block crate motor. Everything went surprisingly smooth till I went to take out the old 6-cylinder motor mounts from the cross-member. The nuts on the inside of the crossmember spins when I turn the bolt. Is there an easy way to get at these nuts, as there don't appear to be any easy access holes? I can cut the old nut/bolts off to get the six-cylinder mounts out, but how do you get new nuts inside the crossmember to bolt the small block mounts?

General Discussion / 68 COUPE FENDER ON BACKORDER
« on: June 27, 2011, 10:50:23 PM »
My car is ready for paint with one major problem. I have a 68 base coupe and the LH fender has been on backorder for two months, and now I'm told it will be at least mid-august before they get any in. They do have RS fenders in stock. I know the RS fenders have an extra brace inside for the hideaway headlights, and use different headlight pots as well.

And I know this is probably a stupid question but will the RS fender work on my base coupe?

General Discussion / Roof patch panel
« on: March 25, 2009, 08:23:07 PM »
Does anyone make a patch panel for the front edge of the roof where the windshield sits in? My car was a vinyl top coupe and when we pulled the vinyl off there was quite a bit of rust on the part under the stainless trim. I can get a whole roof but it seems like a waste of time and money if there is a patch panel available.

any help would be greatly appreciated.

General Discussion / '69 Crossram setup
« on: March 14, 2009, 01:39:55 AM »
I have a line on a factory GM crossram setup complete with carbs and linkage and was wondering what type of value these have right now with the economy the way it is.

General Discussion / Magnaflow exhaust
« on: February 09, 2009, 12:06:04 AM »
Anyone running a Magnaflow exhaust sytem on their car? I'm thinking of getting the MagnaFlow #15895 system for my '68 with a 350. It uses a transverse muffler like the original system but is 2-1/2 stainless front to back. Wondering if it is a good fitting system. Thanks.

General Discussion / '68 Power steering conversion
« on: February 04, 2009, 03:10:38 PM »
I recently picked up  a power steering box, pump, hoses, and brackets off a '67 Camaro and want to install on my manual steering '68. Should this simply be a bolt-in installation or are there components that differ? I know the pitman arm and steering arm are different and have aquired them new. But I'm not sure if the p/s cars used the same column as manual steering.

Any help or info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

General Discussion / 68 wheel mouldings
« on: February 02, 2009, 12:04:11 AM »
I have a '68 case coupe I am building, original 84,000 mile car, with one repaint in the eighties. Just wondering if the wheel opening mouldings were standard on all Camaro's. The first car I ever owned in the 70's was a 68' base coupe and I don'e remember it having  wheel mouldings or the rocker mouldings. I have the GM Canada documentation on the car and it doesn't have them listed as an option on the car.

Also the roof drip rail mouldings are stainless as the car was an original vinyl roof car. Did non-vinyl base coupes have this moulding as well. Thanks
