Originality / Intake bolts different lengths? 67 camaro 327 w/AC
« on: July 14, 2010, 04:29:59 PM »
Why are the manifold bolts I took off different sizes.  The two longest ones were on the passenger front and went through the bracket for the factory air so those I understand.  What about the other two sizes?  Anyone?

Originality / Spark Plug Wire routing....?
« on: July 13, 2010, 05:23:20 AM »
Can anyone tell me, hopefully with pics, what the spark plug wire routing was for a 327 in a 67 camaro?  Looking to see where looms were mounted on valve covers and then any other holders used getting them to the dist..  I seem to be getting conflicting info from NPD and Rick's Camaros.

Thank you in advance for your help!

 :)Here is my story...

My friend Kris was given Grand dad's '67 camaro after moving to Florida. He only knows how to turn a key on a car so I am helping since I have restored a '67 camaro before.

So far I documented it as 100% original (#'s match) with the exception of normal maintenance items and the vinyl top replaced. Not a dent in the car (rust in normal places). Original paint! This a BASE camaro with a 2 sp powerglide, 327 with 2 barrel carb., and A/C. Funny thing about the A/C is Grand Dad says it was dealer installed! Story has it that he ordered a blue camaro and this one came in, so he bought it if they would add A/C.

Your not going to believe my next statement but it is TRUE!! A/C still works and all A/C hoses are only connected with hose clamps....is this possible?!?!?!...hose clamps?

10 bolt rear end. Soft top was redone at some point. Engine has also never been opened according to his stack of maintenance sheets that put the yellow pages to shame. He kept every oil change receipt!!!!

The first of many questions is this....what to do with it?

Friend is looking for my advice. I'm a proponent of original so what can I do with trans and engine to start with?  Only rebuilt Muncie....how different is this? It leaks oil from every seam and then some. So it needs rebuilding.. what can I get out of the heart of the engine keeping the same look so it has more excitement and reliability but looks the original to your eye?

More to come...please give thoughts.

Restoration / Here a sticker there a sticker everywhere a sticker...
« on: August 10, 2009, 02:35:48 AM »
???Time for the details.  All the trim is on and car is running well.  Now I need to place all the stickers.  Don't see much help on this in assem. manual.  Can anyone help with a reference for the sticker locations on my '67 SS Camaro?  You know....strange stickers like the "GM" sticker in the door jam.  Location?  Any help with any stickers would be great.

I'll post pictures when she's buttoned up.

Thanks for all your help through the process.

Restoration / Help with head lamps on 67 RS
« on: June 29, 2009, 10:48:11 PM »
 >:( I'm very mad.  I can't believe the bulbs in my 67 camaro resto actually mount with the halogen light turned sideways.

Is this actually the case?  Called Napa and they confirmed the part number of the lamp.  Hard to believe the writting on the face of the light doesn't read left to right when mounted.

Is this supposed to be the case?

Thank for all your help!!!!

Restoration / 67 camaro throttle rod
« on: June 07, 2009, 02:50:00 PM »
Does anyone have the angle the throttle rod is bent at and the total length before being bent.  Mine was previously bend to hell.  Also the throtle to pedal rod is not for a big block which is what I have, can anyone give me a "shape" to go by for me to fabricate?   Went my NPD and they didn't have.   Help help help.

Maintenance / Clutch Stuff: extension rod to spring to mount?
« on: June 02, 2009, 05:54:19 PM »
???Look to know how extension rod connects to clutch andhos the spring on the extension rod connects to engine or frame.  Assemble manual not clear on how spring attaches to frame or engine.  Am I missing a bracket?  Don't see extra hole in engine mount for spring to loop through either.

Restoration / 67 kick panel sealant?
« on: May 19, 2009, 12:45:31 AM »
 ???

What did they use to seal the surround of the kick panel oval against the body?  I pealed off what almost looked to be plumbers putty.  But it's so old, everything looks different.

« on: May 18, 2009, 02:59:38 AM »
Can anyone supply pics or references to the start and stop of the black out of the tail pan?   I know how it comes out of the truck area, just not where it stops on the back.

Thanks,

Mike
