Decoding/Numbers / need 1969 Los Angeles Z28 expert...
« on: April 13, 2018, 03:15:30 AM »
I am looking for a respected Z28 Camaro authority to verify and authenticate a 1969 Z28 made in Van Nuys, Ca plant.  I have a complete trail with names, phone numbers, etc of those who knew the car, a history of all of the owners from new.  This is a documented Vintage SCCA Road Race car, that the third owner I bought it from was told was not a Z28.  But the rear differential and original owner's family say was one.  Of course it does not have the X code on the trim tag.  It was made Feb 3, 1969, shipped to Paso Robles, CA.

I have photos of the original rear end numbers, stampings (and access to it out of the car).  I have the documentation and done the hard work, now need someone to make expert decision and provide proof it was originally a Z28 besides me.

Who would I go to for this?  The car is in Des Moines, IA.

Thanks for any help guys!

Decoding/Numbers / Were 69 SS also made in CA plant?
« on: February 03, 2010, 07:18:48 AM »
Struggling with a 69 that has:

Van Nuys trim tag
12 bolt original rear end with 373 gears, drum brakes- with cooling vent holes in side of drum
two line fuel line- one small, one large
Big block air radiator
hole for speedo on drivers side of steering wheel shaft hole.
brake proportioning valve under drivers side frame
engine missing
Heater box missing
Trim tag does not id it as a X-22, etc.  It is blank at this spot
Black door sills
Original rear panel replaced

Questions:
1.  Did they any make SS Camaros in California in 69?
2.  Is this a L34 or L35 car, since it has two fuel lines, one small, one large?

Appreciate any help!  Thanks!

Decoding/Numbers / Need reproduction VIN
« on: December 31, 2009, 09:06:27 PM »
I am i n the process of replacing the top metal dash on our 69 Vintage Race Car.  The one in the car is damaged, and cut away where the vin orginally was (probably from previous impact, as windshield frame area is damaged there, too).

I have the title, and the vin on the cowl does match the title.  The trim tag also matches up with the build date of that vin, so i am 100% confidant that the title is for the car.

Is there a company that will make a replacement VIN if we have the proper documentation?  Contact numbers?  Approximate cost?  I need the rivits, too.

Fell free to email me directly at Dan73Vette@AOL.com if you prefer.

Thanks,

Trying to verify parts, we plan to sell off our 25,000 mile road race Camaro.  Can anyone give me idea of fair market value, and application?

1.  Manual Steer Box- #5696084  1  Date 339 (Feb 2, 1969 I believe)

2. Pitman Arm-   7 GMT #3908391A  5.75"  (FAST STEER I believe)

Thanks for any advise or help!

Maintenance / Nova Frame versus Camaro
« on: July 18, 2008, 02:03:18 AM »
What is the difference between a front 69 Nova subframe frame and a Camaro subframe?  Are they identical?
I need one for a 69 Camaro, wondering what years and models match up perfectly for restoration project.

Thanks for any wisdom

Decoding/Numbers / Data base for Camaro Race Car?
« on: July 16, 2008, 04:00:04 AM »
We just pulled a 1969 SCCA Camaro race car out of a barn Sunday (yes, really did, have pics).  Has 2 log books back to 1971, been in barn for over 20 years.  Is there a data base for race cars, or interest in adding it?  Thanks,
Racerdan
