Restoration / Convertible Molding/Window fuzzy
« on: September 30, 2009, 12:27:04 AM »
I took this car apart about a year ago for paint and it's almost back together.   I am installing the pinch weld trim and 1/4 window fuzzys.   My memory fails me at this point.  Do the fuzzys go on first then the molding over them,  or the other way around?  A screw holds the end of the molding,  does it pass through the fuzzy?  I have tried to find pictures showing this assembly but haven't been successfull.  Any help would be gretly appreciated.

Restoration / Paint job
« on: March 25, 2009, 09:15:11 PM »
Well after a few short weeks my 69 convertible is back from the body shop.   The car was in excellent shape but the acrylic enamel paint was nearing 20 years old.    The original Daytona Yellow was put back on with a white "hockey stick" stripe.    A new white top is next,  and the stainless trim requires some rehab.

Restoration / Convertible Top replacement
« on: December 20, 2008, 12:17:59 AM »
Thanks to a mouse my convertible top on my 69 has a small chewed spot at the back window edge.   This top is about 5 years old and was in excelent condition.   I am a good mechanic and have done several restorations in the past but never a convertible.   During the down time this winter I plan on removing the old top,  repainting  the mechanism,  and replacing  the windshield while I'm at it.   Installing the new top is the only thing that has me worried because of no experience.  I plan on getting the top from Ricks First Gen.  Are there any secrets that will help me or should I look for  a local installer when that time arrives?   I appreciate any advice,  this site and  forum members have provided me with great info in the past

General Discussion / Street Rod Nationals
« on: August 02, 2008, 02:08:41 AM »
The Street Rod Nationals are here in Louisville, Ky. again this weekend.   Very large event at the state fairgrounds.  Although primarily Rods several venders such as Detroit Speed are always there with the latest in muscle car tech.  Large swap meet and indoor show area.  I can't enter in my 69 camaro convertible but it will be in the parking lot and at every cruising location all weekend!

Restoration / Steering box rebuild
« on: July 30, 2008, 11:25:36 PM »
I have a '69 convertible with Power steering, the box is original to the car.  This car has many miles but has had a restoration done about 10 years ago.  The steering box has a small leak at the pitman shaft and has a "sticking" feeling when driving it.  I feel it is time for a professional rebuild on this part and do not want to lose my original  box to some rebuilder.  Can someone refer me to a competant shop?
