Restoration / Another 67 RS headlight thread - sorry :-((
« on: August 11, 2014, 06:57:08 AM »
I am pulling my hair - or at least the rest of it...... :-(

My left headlight door has allways worked - until a few mounths ago, where I had to remove the complete tacho gauge cluster in the dash, and I cant say NO to that I have been messing around with the wires on and behinde the light switch - could that be the case ??

The door opens nicely when I turn on the light - but it do not close again when I turn off the light. If i manuel try to close the door, and let go, it opens again ( when the light is on )

I have been checking the 2 limit switces that they work when to button is pushed.

Anyone? please chip in ;-)

Thanks

Maintenance / Speedo / Gauge cluster - bad connection ?!?!
« on: May 26, 2014, 07:43:09 PM »
Hi

I have had the complete speedo unit out of the car, and tonight when I should put it back in something fishie happened :-(

If I installe the unit and tighten the screws etc, and pull the headlight switch the instrument ligt dont work - but the high beam, and the L / R indicater lights.

If I loose the screws and let the cluster unit drop 1/4" everything works fine

I have had it out many times now, and cant figure out why and were things go wrong - any help ??

Thanks
Claus

General Discussion / Parts for 1 gen Camaro
« on: May 06, 2014, 01:47:19 PM »
Since I live in Denmark I prefere Summit for all parts possible, bacause they have a smooth online system.  but I have ordered a few part# for my hideaway headlight with on other major dealer ( I will not mention the name ).

I am getting all kinds of BS and delay on delay on shipping the parts, so I just would like to know what other alternatives I have.

Where do you guys buy your special/original..ish Camaro Parts ??

General Discussion / What wheel size looks good on a 1967 RS ?
« on: April 23, 2014, 12:44:14 PM »
I´ll try with a new thread ;-)

My 14" Rallys needs new tires, and it is very hard to find these size tires in Denmark.

I have a set of 15" Rally rims from my 55 Chevy, that I am thinking of using on the Camaro

Rear: 15 X 7 - 4,25" backspace
Front: 15 X 6 - 3,50" backspace
I am thinking of 235/60/15 on the rear - and 225/60/15 in front

My question is - will that work with no rubbing the tires?

if not - which direction should I then go ? what are you guys running ??

Thanks
Claus

General Discussion / Need help with 1967 RS headlights
« on: April 21, 2014, 04:27:59 PM »
Hi

My right headligt door is not workring - and I need to find out where the problem is - hope somebody can explane what to do and how to do ?!?! ;-)

I could open and close the door by hand - so I have removed the cover and plate.

I have the 1967-69 Restauration guide and on page 58 there is a drawing where I can see the inboard and outboard limit switch and the motor etc.

How do I check where the malfuncion is ??

Thanks for any help

General Discussion / 1967 Camaro Generator bracket - what to do ??
« on: July 01, 2013, 09:23:15 AM »
Hi

I have put on som shiny valvecovers that are a little bit taller than the original ones, - because of that the generator fan belt had to be chanced to one 1" longer but now my generator tighten bracket os not long enough so I can tighten the fan belt :-((

My info is:

* 327 engine without bolt holes in the head
* Short water pump
* Original cast iron exhaust manifolds that hold the lower generator bracket

What have you guys done? hope to get som helping info ;-)

General Discussion / Yes... my first V8 rebuild ;-)
« on: June 26, 2013, 09:52:55 AM »
Hi.

YES... IT lookes like I did it. My first ever complete 327 V8 rebuild ;-)

I must admit I have had butterflies in the stumag for a few weeks now, and yeasterday after I had been checking everything over and over again I turned the key - and wromm wromm..

I ran it over 2000 RPM for about 20-22 minuts in different RPM.

I put the timing on 8 degrees to begin with, disconected the vacum to the distributor ( original with points )

Then turned the RPM up til 4000 and the timing was 42 degrees.

My book says timing at 4000 should be around 34-38 isn´t that right??

What should my idle RPM be?
How much should it drop when put in gear?
How much should my idle timing be?

I put in a bottle of came brake in doze in the oil - when should I change the oil ? ( the cylinder was only honed and new rings )

Thanks for your input ;-)
