Garage Talk / 67 z/28 rear end
« on: December 11, 2023, 12:48:33 PM »
Hi,

Just wondering what the value of a 67 Z/28 rear end is? It's complete with drum brakes and brake lines, has correct codes, single traction bar bracket and posi centre.

Thanks

Originality / NAT MFG marking on fender ???
« on: September 30, 2008, 09:43:20 AM »
After removing the hood hinge from the driver side fender of my 68 RS SS I found the following markings :-  nat mfg pc's
These appear to be factory markings as they are written on the original paint finish and this Camaro has all original GM panels.
My car is an early 68 model with 67 style bumble bee stripe and discontinued paint color etc.
Has anyone come across this before and what does it mean?
Could the fenders have been supplied by a Chevy plant/warehouse called 'national manufacturing' or was there a quality control issue the plant wanted to track? Either way it was important to identify the fender so there must be a reason for it?

Decoding/Numbers / VIN sequential build number verification ?
« on: July 03, 2008, 02:11:36 PM »
Need some help to verify the sequential build number of a 68 Camaro please.

The trim plate details are:-
10E build date
V693 production tracking
68-12437 Style
LOS assembly plant
09611 body
712 trim
H-H paint

The VIN number is 124378L310107 and this concerns me as my restoration guide says that LOS sequential build numbers for October 1967 start with 304746 and end with 309652 but my car is 310107 ???
Can anyone confirm that my VIN tag is okay?

Thanks,
Karl

General Discussion / LOS car history & geography
« on: March 15, 2008, 12:49:32 PM »
I purchased a 69 Camaro a few months ago which I am presently restoring and I would like to research it's history but don't know exactly where to start.
I was told the car was in CA most of it's life and found several related items in the console such as a 1982 Medic Aid card issued in Sherman Oaks, a 1978 Van Nuys Blvd parking ticket and a business card for a dental appointment in Panorama City etc. My knowledge of CA geography is limited to what I found on the internet but it appears that these places are close to each other and not that far from LOS where the car was built. I am thinking it was a black & yellow plate car but no number plates were supplied with the car.
As the car is now located in Australia I am not sure who to contact to search previous owner information and found that you can't do a online VIN search due to CA laws. I would like to track down a POP or build sheet if possible as all I could find in the car was a small piece of perforated paper under the rear seat which look to be the remnants of the build sheet.
Any advice or suggestions from the forum is appreciated.

Thanks,
Newbie

I have started to restore my 69 Camaro and found these paper stickers behind the front and rear interior door trims. The labels are white with black lettering, perforated in the middle with LOS49 on one half and 49LOS on the other. Does anyone know what they mean? Is it something to do with the production line sequence or color coding?
I believe my Camaro is mostly original except for a cheap repaint but it has the factory paint behind the door trims & under the carpet etc.
My car is a 12A build (1st week of December 1968) and hugger orange in color with black deluxe trim if that helps.
I am taking pictures as I go to document the rebuild and can post a pic if needed.

General Discussion / Hello from new member
« on: March 06, 2008, 10:00:12 AM »
Just wanted to introduce myself and say hello to all.

I have visited CRG in the past for information and wanted to say it is a great site.

As I have purchased a 69 RS SS a few months ago, I will be looking for technical assistance with the restoration. Hopefully you won't mind helping a Camaro fan who is located in Australia?

Thanks to all in advance.
