Originality / Deep groove alt pulley?
« on: May 29, 2016, 06:24:31 PM »
Can anybody tell be if this is a deep groove pulley is an original? It is on a 1100921 alt (dated 9M11) that I've had for 25+ years. I got it in a reman box from one of my buddys. If it is not an original could I use it on my BB car?

Hello all, I have owned my 69 for over 27 years. Last year I got a NCRS report on it. I tracked down the dealers son and he said he had the invoice for my car. Here is the Kicker.... he wants $2000 for it. NO way no how I would pay that. It is a non numbers matching car so it would not increase the value of my car. He did tell me the price on the bottom though.... I thought it would be neat to try to figure it out. I have not come up with the combo that would get me there. ( i don't know what the price changes were and when. So anybody want to give it a shot? Would there be any clues to look for for other options?

Here is what I do know:
69 x22 396/325 with a 4 speed. (trans unknown assuming a m20)
 12 bolt 3:31's posi,
Rally sport,
 small steering arms, power steering,
 disc brakes,
std interior with wood grain on drivers side,
no tach, no ZL2, no air, crank windows
tinted glass,
aftermarket antenna so no way to know what radio I'm guessing.
It does have the heater box duct for a console but it was not in the car.

The price was $3955.35

Any guesses would be awesome!!!! I will send you a hand crafted wooden bottle opener (or 3) if you can figure out the combo

Mods if this is the wrong place please move it. Thank you!!!!

Restoration / making a repop part look better...
« on: April 02, 2016, 09:48:16 PM »
I have been working on the brake system in my 69. I purchased rebuild parts for the prop valve and the hold off valve. I decided to dig out the old parts to compare. Well, I have a new distribution block and it doesn't look close! Looks kinda out of place.

I got out my dremmel tool, stuck on a small grinding stone and went to town using the original as a guide.

Got the shape to look a lot better. Then flattened out the swirl marks on the top with a 90* cookie wheel and used a small punch to put some texture on it.

Then painted with some cast blast to get the finished look. I am happy with the way it came out but still may rebuild the original in the future.

General Discussion / 69 bbc oil pan recomendations
« on: February 06, 2016, 06:09:43 PM »
Hello, I am looking for a stock appearing oil pan for my x22. The new engine is going to be an all new build using a GMPP ZL1 block (since it is NOM anyway). I am still in the planning  and parts gathering  mode. Still not sure of the cubic inch we are going to do with it so I may have to go with a stroker clearance pan. I do want a stock (ish) appearance of an original ZL1 (black pan, timing cover, stock looking valve covers and functioning cowl air cleaner setup). It will not be a true to stock look but a half breed or an almost day 2 with headers and small upgrades. Anybody have a good pan that they have used that kind of looks the part and does not have any issues with cheapness or leaks? Any help would be much appreciated!  Also If you have any experience with one of these blocks, that info would be great!
