If there is one thing you taught me is to do my homework and research and now I need your second opinion on this car. Good or bad.

General Discussion / Please Verify
« on: March 13, 2013, 05:01:16 PM »
Hey Guys I just need a verification to be sure I did my homework correctly, could you please help.
I am restoring my 68 Z28 which is going in for paint and want it to be correct in color. The car is a J2 paint code, Ralley Green w/ black Vinyl top. PPG paint Code 43898
The white stripes are Ermine White PPG paint Code 8259 and the interior Dash panel is Black PPG paint Code 9266
I know this has been asked before but are the Rocker panels blacked out and if so what PPG paint code # is it.

This is a great site and appreciate all the discussions and help everybody contributes.
I'm hoping to get this car on the road by June 2013, Thanks for your help. John

General Discussion / shifter knob
« on: December 24, 2012, 03:43:00 AM »
I always check "search" before I ask certain questions and I'm looking for a more definitive answer for this question.

Did all '68 Z28s that have a center console automatically come with the chrome shifter ball from the factory? No option period?

I have seen white, black and chrome and on the consoles I always see the gear shift pattern even though the white and black shifter knobs have the pattern engraved in them.

I read that ralley green paint was first offered in 1968, my ralley green Z28 is a 1D build date and was just wondering how many earlier than that were painted ralley green so please chime in. Add a pic if so desired, Thanks!

General Discussion / oil in carpet
« on: September 23, 2012, 06:17:41 PM »
a friend of mine has a 1967 RS/SS and while doing some work did not properly tighten the copper tubing to the oil pressure gauge thus oil soaked into his carpet. Question is what is the best way to get that oil out of his carpet without ruining or fading any fibers in the carpet? Thanks.

General Discussion / Fathers Day Gift
« on: June 11, 2012, 12:46:05 AM »
My Adult children asked me what I would like for a Fathers Day present so i quickly replied "New tires for my '68 Z28!"

Now I need to tell them the "correct" tire and size that came originally on the stock 15x6 rally rim.

Can someone help me out and guide me to the correct tires that came from the factory? I want to keep it as original as possible and right now the previous owner sold it to me with radials on it.

Thanks for your help and to all you Dads out there HAPPY FATHERS DAY! { Early }

Originality / Wipers
« on: February 03, 2012, 02:29:58 AM »
I've heard that in '68 Camaros the higher performance cars had Anco wipers. Is this correct or only Trico wipers came on all Camaros? Would the dealer have changed them out at the time of delivery?
