Restoration / Help with parking brake light
« on: October 01, 2008, 09:41:10 PM »
I installed all new paking brake cables on my 68 today, and I have no light that comes on the dash,(with the brake on) the switch behing the pedal only has one wire to it, so I asume it breaks a circuit to trigger the light, but I dont know if I shoud have power at the switch or not, the bulbs in the dash left to right are low fuel, turn signal, then brake, I looked under the dash and it seems the bulb socket for the brake light is a little off center and has a diffrent type socket, it was hard to get to so I though I would post before tearing thing apart
Thanks in advance

Originality / Insrument cluster question
« on: September 30, 2008, 09:56:48 PM »
I have a 68 camaro grotta blue with the blue int. the int has never been painted on or touched,
my question is, is it common for the instrument cluster to be faded, it still has a blue tint but close to silver, it does not look out of the ordinary just faded. Is this common on this color?
Thanks

Originality / Reproduction tire and positraction stickers?
« on: March 08, 2008, 05:58:12 PM »
I bought a 68 model a few month ago and posted some questions about the car, one that I need to clerify is how can you tell Reproduction sticker from originals, I had took a pic of my tire (glovebox) and Posi sticker and they were called reproductions, I have since talked to and met the owner of the car frome 1977 to 1994 and the stickers were there then, he had a very extensive photo album, were reproduction stickers made for 9 year old cars? how can I tell repo or not
Thanks

I have a 68 RS and am new here, I have had my car for about 3 months, and like many, I am really getting into finding out what I have, Location A on the trim tag is 11A I asume this mean 1st week in November, and on the trans the case # is 3885010 and the date code horizontal on the rear of the case is P1103 and there is a tag on one of the bolt on the cover side that is 3890534 the first 3 could be something else becouse the bolt is blocking it a little, and the rear end is a 12 bolt and the date is D 14 7, I have looked up some of these #s and may be right or not, I wanted to post them here and see what someone that knows alot more than me would decode them as, basically original to the car, and is the what trans is in the car. the speedo cable is on the passanger side, and I read were the cable should go through the firewall on right of the steering column, the only whole I have is small and I dont know if it had a two piece cable or what,  I posted a thread in the originality section with a pic of this hole. any help would greatly be appreciated, I am new at 1st generation camaros and this car is odd as to the options it has.
Thanks
Lane

Hello, I have a question about the 68 RS I just bought, This car has some odd options, and that has made me want to investigate things, I have NO documintation on the car, I have the car and a title and have worked my way back through 10 owners 2 to go, The good thing about this car it is original untouched except for motor and trans, I do believe the car to a 4sp car, it has a muncie in it know, so in doing a search on the speedo cable and where it is suppose to go through the firewall, I went out to look, in order for it to be a muncie car, the hole was to be to the right of the steering column,  I could not find a 1inch hole like the one under the fuse box, for the automatics and saginaws,  the only one I found was small and had a small bolt holding in the rubber grammet, and the rubber hangs out on the engine side about 1/2 inch. If this is the correct whole, it would of had to been a two piece cable, if not what is this whole for? here is a pic of the hole under the dash.
