Mild Modifications / Speedo Gear Reducer
« on: November 03, 2016, 01:29:31 AM »
Hi all, I have recently changed the rear axle configuration from a 3:73 to a more drivable 3:08. The speedometer gear that is in there now is a green 22 tooth. What I need is a 18 tooth Brown how ever with out taking the Muncie (M20) apart to change the drive gear it will just eat up the Brown gear. My transmission guy recommended a external gear reducer to make the speedo read true. Question is where do I get one and what "reduction" do I need? I saw one on eBay
 http://www.ebay.com/itm/AC-90-Degree-Gear-Speedometer-Reducer-Ratio-Adapter-1-0-950-6479236-w-bullet-/122203171020?hash=item1c73e068cc:g:MVAAAOSwcLxYFH3L&vxp=mtr
But I have no idea if it will work or not.
Any help is appreciated
Thanks
Mike

Maintenance / No Power to the Gauge Fuse
« on: August 01, 2015, 10:05:42 PM »
I just did some work under the hood and when I hooked everything back up I had no power to the Horn, Fuel Gauge and the Acc that I use for my after market radio. The first thing I checked was the fuse. When I found there is no power to the fuse marked "Gauges". I tried to track it down with no luck. Can anybody give me any suggestions on where under the hood I should be looking. Let me make note that the original charging system had been converted to a single wire system a long time ago, and there is an HEI ignition. There was never any issues in the past. I am afraid that I may have messed with a wire unintentionally.
Thanks

Restoration / Horn Button Assembly 67 Camaro
« on: April 11, 2014, 01:23:19 AM »
Hello all, I am trying to assemble the horn button and contacts in my 67 steering wheel.
Once I install everything and put power to it the horn goes off. It seems when I put it together it completes the circuit and beeps.
Does anybody have any diagrams or pictures on how it goes together. Also is there suppose to be any plastic insulators in there somewhere to keep it from making contact until you hit the button? Any help is appreciated. its a regular wheel , not the woodgrain
Thanks
Mike

http://www.fbodygathering.com/

I have been going to the FBODY Gathering for 4 years this will be my 5th. I was told for years I should not miss this event and I ignored them. One I went I was hooked.
This years Saturday theme night is Tropical Luau. Dress you or your self up in your best Magnum PI Gear. ( You Young Guys Can Google that!)

Don't miss meeting Scott Settlemire (FBODFATHER) he is always available to chat. He will be bringing lots of Toys from the Chevy Toy Box for you to finger up.
This event is HUGE!

Drive it, trailer it, tow it or event don't bring it this year and just be a spectator. But don't miss it.

Yes there will be lots of 5th gens there , however I bring my 67 and we get the respect we deserve. I even got the TAP last year to display my car in the GM display on awards night.
So don't have an attitude  :P and get with the party!

General Discussion / Axle and gears Question
« on: December 31, 2012, 07:30:58 PM »
The Axle on my Camaro is coded as
JB G272 1 The best I can make out is it is a 8.5 out of a 72 GM product.

I have a Ring and Pinion posi unit.

The Pinion gear is coded 383240   F10
The Ring Gear is GM3790629   12  37  6  65
it has 37 teeth to 12 teeth making it what I believe to be a 3:08
The question is ( of course ) will the Posi ring and pinion unit work in that axle housing.

Any help would be great!
Thanks

Mike

General Discussion / Hurst Handle Shifter Bracket
« on: July 21, 2011, 02:45:16 PM »
I am looking to find this bracket. It offsets the shifter over 1 3/4" than up 3 1/4 so that it is in the factory location.
I found it at Heartbeat City for 169!. That almost stopped my Heartbeat!

Mild Modifications / Tranny Swap Issues
« on: June 27, 2011, 09:21:06 PM »
Hello all, this seems to be the place to ask all those questions that other look at you dumb for asking  :-[

Here is my issue.

I have a 67 rs. The car originally had a SB and manual transmission. Before I got the car about 10 or so years ago the person pulled that drive train out and installed a BB and a 350 tranny.
I decided that I am going to leave the BB in put replace the th350 with a muncie 4speed. I got the pedals in today and went to install the z-bar.
It seems the (BB)Z-Bar is about 1/4 to 1/2 too long.
I checked to make sure I had the correct bar and I do.
I have heard things about motor mount brackets being different sizes and z-bar sizes ? ???
Any suggestions, ideas or theorys?

Anything would be appriciated
Thanks
Mike

Originality / 1969 SS stripes
« on: January 04, 2008, 03:35:44 AM »
Can any one tell me what the standard "sport stripes" that came on the SS (350) package were.
hood/trunk, hockey or. around the nose?
And if you had a cowl induction hood did it matter?
thanks
Mike
