Decoding/Numbers / EDB 30174 1967 / 1968 / 1969 dating question.
« on: September 23, 2011, 11:48:34 PM »
1969 carriers are coded with a J .  What are 67 and 68 dated with.  The castings are 30174.  i noticed that 69 and 70 carriers have - 2 after casting number.  I have a carrier with - 1 after casting number and stamped code of  E  13  only.  Thinking 1st version carrier and then - 2 was 2nd version. Any help.  Thinking  - 2 came into production at some time that guys know?  Does anybody have a original 67 4 series carrier and 1968 4 series carrier that could look?

Restoration / BBC open air cleaner base
« on: November 20, 2010, 02:18:25 AM »
Been hanging on walls for years.  It has the right angle tube for the BBC application.  Has flame arestor with 4 small dimples and GM twice around base.  The breather tube has 5 grooves.   2 grooves and small space then 3 grooves.  GM at least 2 times along the length of grooves.  I think base came off a 68 BBC camaro. Any ideas?  Did the rubber valve cover hose change during the different years (67-69)

Decoding/Numbers / 1967 camaro #3916323 engine block

This is also a good casting number for L78 camaros in late 67 production?   There is one for sale on camaro.net and this brought it to my attention that it only shows the "406 " for the 67 camaro on CRG.   I have talked to guys with the 323 block in these camaros  but have not seen first hand.  Is this true?  I was always told that late in production year you could have a 406 or 323 block?  I was thinking around last week in June and throught July?

Decoding/Numbers / 1967 camaro manual disc master cylinder
« on: February 06, 2008, 03:28:20 AM »
I just noticed on CRG under chassis.  When you look at the info about the master cylinder the info is incorrect.  It states that 67 and 68 camaro's used the same master cylinder for disc brakes.  Manual disc was a 1 year only option!  Also i think there were 2 types of master cylinders used in 67.  One for manual disc brakes and the other for power disc brakes.  Manual had a 1 inch bore and power had a 1 1/8 bore.  These were not interchangable.  They are coded differently too.  Casting number for manual disc is #5459467
Looking at the info and reading throught it it never talks about the different casting number. The picture is misleading too by showing the top bleeders that are not on the manual disc MC.   What i am saying is there is quite a bit of difference between these 2 systems and info needs updated.  The AD and WT is there but more is needed to put it all together
