Restoration / Stripes - to feel them or not to feel them
« on: January 22, 2009, 02:29:16 PM »
My car (69z) is almost ready for paint and I am being asked by the painter if I what to feel the stripes or not. When a car is judged do the stripes need to be felt? Base then stripe and clear, or base, clear, strip, clear?
Thanks as always! Don

Originality / Floor plugs - for lack of any other discription
« on: July 14, 2008, 10:45:41 PM »
A very knowledgeable and helpful Camaro enthusiast told me the 4 floor plugs and 2 trunk plugs are installed "bubble" up and are not painted, left natural silver. He has never lead me wrong in the past but before I pull up my dynomat and replace them I just wanted to double check. Not that  I am doubting you (Kevin), just wanted to make 100% sure.

Restoration / RS - wiring route to Alternator
« on: May 09, 2008, 11:43:20 PM »
I'm just finishing up my wiring and after I connect the wire clip to the side of the pass fender I only have enough slack to get the wiring to run in front of the washer fluid res straight to the alternator with very little slack left. Is this correct? If not where should the wire route to feed to the alt? I have searched the AIm and all eBay cars without one route being prevalent. Thanks. I almost think I will need to un-wrap the harness and move the push-in (attached to the side pass fender) back up the harness some distance.
Thanks for any suggestions,
Don

Originality / RS Vacuum hose route.
« on: April 20, 2008, 08:17:16 PM »
Would any one know if the hose from the vacuum source goes in the wire tray, between the distrib and firewall or in front of the dist to the manifold? Seems like it should go through the wire gutter but the AIM shows it going between the carb and the dist. (I think).
Thanks

Originality / 69 Z/28 oil dip stick question.
« on: February 19, 2008, 01:36:03 PM »
I have seen from other postings that JohnZ's original dip stick is the crimped model. So I know what I need to find but my quesitons is what was the green tipped dip stick used in. So many listings say Z's but but I now know that is incorrect. Thanks!

Its one of those pieces that you say "no one can see it" "pain to repalce if it goes bad". Is it worth using an original even if its in perfect shape or just replace it with new so you don't have to worry about a failure? Would judges even care?
Thanks

Originality / Bolts locks on 302 exhaust manifolds
« on: January 25, 2008, 02:29:23 PM »
Did the 69 - 302 manifolds come with the bolts locks for the front and back exhaust manifold bolts from the factory. And if so, were they just flat stainless?
Thank you,
Don
