Restoration / Sun Visor Question
« on: January 02, 2008, 02:15:44 AM »
Hi all,
I have a 67 coupe that i just got new Sunvisors for.  The visors that were in the car were a short style i think maybe out of a second gen camaro or who knows what.... Thy did not have the metal part that reached the middle support over the rear view mirror to connect into it.  So i got a set of 67 visors from Classic Industries to put in.  My problem now is.. When i put them in they still come up about an inch short of reaching the center boot above the rear view mirror...??  Now after looking in the catalog i see that there is a different mirror support and boot for a 67 and one for 68 & 69.  From what i can see is the one in my car is out of a 68 not a 67.  I guess my question is... would a 67 mirror support and boot be wider so the visor would reach and catch in the boot ???

I guess this is why the previous owner used a short style visor.. so he would have this problem... :'(

One other thing I tried to check out was on my friends 68, I measured from the edge of his head liner to the center of his outer support, and i come up with 4", now on my car i measure from the edge of the head liner to the center of my support and i come up with close to 3".  This is the inch im coming up short.  Im thinking maybe the ceter boot for a 67 is wider to make up the difference but maybe im wrong....
Is the outer sun visor supports in different location on a 67 and 68?
Any ideas?

thanks,
Charlie

General Discussion / Gears in Rear End....
« on: September 12, 2007, 06:24:29 PM »
Hi all,
I want to find out what gears i have in my rear.  Some people have told me to mark the drive shaft and turn the tire one rotation.  You can count how many times the drive shaft goes around and then you can figure out what gears you have.
Does this work?  ???

Maintenance / Rear Lower Shock mount
« on: September 04, 2007, 05:44:25 PM »
Hi guys,
I have to replace a rear lower shock mount on my car.  I was just wondering what was the best way to go about it.  Should the car be on a lift and the suspension hanging or should i do it on the ground and just unbolt the U-bolts and pull the plate off.  I guess what im trying to get at is.....  if i unbolt the U-bolts to remove the plate will the springs stay in place?  should it be on the ground to have the weight of the car on the springs or should it be in the air to have no weight on the springs  ??? ???

General Discussion / How hard is it?
« on: August 28, 2007, 02:53:39 PM »
hi all,
I have been thinking of re-covering the seats in my 67.  The rear seat and passenger seat foam and springs are good, so it will just be new covers for them.  The driver seat foam is shot and the springs are not that great.  So i think i will go with new springs and new foam on that seat.  I have some skills in the shop and where i lack i have friends that can help out.  But we have never redone seats before.  Is this something you would recomend we give a shot or should i just take them to someone and have them done? I dont think i would start this project till late fall or winter but im just trying to plan things now and save up some cash if i do take it to someone to have done.

thanks,

Maintenance / 4-way Flasher problem...
« on: August 27, 2007, 05:02:49 PM »
Hi guys,
I have a problem with my flashers on my 67.  They dont work!  All other lights on the car work fine.  I have replaced the flasher unit in the upper right corner of the fuse box and nothing.  Could my problem be in the steering column?  One thing i did notice is when the flasher button is pressed in my blinkers dont work.  if i pull the button out the blinkers will work.  Any idea's on where i should be looking and what to do??

Maintenance / Oil Pressure question.........
« on: August 21, 2007, 05:49:29 PM »
Hi all,
I have a question about Oil pressure>  I have a 67 with a 350 in it.  When i start it up the pressure goes up to 40psi.  While im driving at highway speeds 50 to 60  its right around 40psi.  but if i come to a light it drops down to between 25 and 30psi.  Then back up to speed and its back up to 40psi again.  When i get to where im going and put it in park,  it drops to 25psi.  If parked and i rev the engine up it will go back up to 40psi,  but at idle it stays around 25psi.
I guess my question is............ Is this ok?  Is 25psi at idle to low?  what would cause this?
I got the car in May.  It has done this since the day i drove it home.  I changed the oil a few days after i got it.  Oil looked clean like it was just changed.  I drove it about 500 miles and changed oil again just to see how it looked.  Now its got about another 500 miles on it since that last oil change.

Maintenance / Break Pedal is sloppy..
« on: August 17, 2007, 02:37:45 PM »
Hi all,
I have a few questions about my break pedal in my 67.  I have power drum breaks.  The breaks work fine, but the pedal is a little sloppy.  But its not when you push the pedal in,  its sloppy left to right.  you can actually move the pedal about 1 inch back and forth to the left and right.
Im a big guy and i tried to get up under the dash to see if there is a bolt or anything that i can tighten or replace but i have trouble getting under the dash to see up there.  Any idea's of what the problem is?  Also as i was under there i saw a Black square box with a plunger type thing on it.  this plunch is up against the shaft of the pedal.  So when the pedal is pressed in the plunger releases.  What would this be for?

thanks,
Charlie

Maintenance / 68 Big Block Heater box Assembly
« on: August 07, 2007, 10:34:16 PM »
Hi all,
I have a friend who has a 68 with a big block.  The car Originaly had a small block in it.  He would like to change the Heater box assembly to the Big Block version.  My question is..... what is needed for this switch?  Can he just buy a bi block heater cover and bolt that in? or do the hoses need to be changed since they are moved to a different location.  I guess what im trying to ask is..... on the inside of the box is there any parts that he will need, or is it just as simple as changing the cover and hooking the hoses back up. Would he need a new heater core???

thanks,
charlie

Hi All,
Im new to this site and to my 67 camaro. So sorry if this is a stupid question and sorry if i have posted it in the wrong area.  When my head lights are on the front parking lights are off.  If i turn the head lights off and just put the parking lights on, both front parking lights work.  So i guess my question is.....Should the front parking lights come on with the headlights or not?  I have asked a few people about this and some told me yes and some to me no. The ones that told me yes say i need a relay!>>>???  The ones that have said no, say that is how the car came in 67.
Can anyone let me know if they should be on with the head lights?
