Restoration / 68 SS 396 Grill color for a black car

I could really use some help. I'm putting the front end back together and I'm trying to find out if the grill on my ss396 should be black or silver.  The car is black.  I'm thinking black but someone who does alot of work on first gen camaros says it's silver.  HELP.
