Originality / Magnum Style Wheels on SS Camaro's
« on: December 13, 2006, 01:17:19 AM »
Was it possible to get "factory" magnum 500 rallye rims on 1969 Camaro's? Were they only available on 396 SS cars?

Thanks.

General Discussion / Rear Leaf Spring Ride Height, Help Me Out
« on: November 21, 2006, 12:25:21 AM »
1969 Camaro owners I need your help.

I am in the market for a set of new leaf springs for my '69 SS Camaro. I like the 70's Big-n-Littles rake look and will be buying a set of 15 inch TTO's and new tires. Rear will be the metrified equivalent L-60-15 , front E-70-15.

Here is where I need your help. I need to determine how much extra arch I need before I order my rear leaf springs. (I don't want to run air shocks.) So if you have a '69 Camaro with newer leaf springs could you measure the distance from the axle c/l to the top of the wheel well opening? I am hoping to get a consensus of what a stock spring ride height will be so I can adjust accordingly. Based on what I have gathered here on the Team Camaro website I am thinking 1-1/2" extra arch will be good.

My Camaro's current 37 year old springs are sagging so I can't get a point of reference without some help. The reverse rake look with 14" white wall ralleye's just ain't cuttin' it.

Any help would be sincerely appreciated.

Decoding/Numbers / Letters B & T stenciled on Cowl

On my 69 SS, adjacent to the cowl tag, are the letters "B" and "T" in Chevy Orange engine paint

Any idea what this is all about?

Originality / Original Air Cleaner for 69 SS
« on: October 15, 2006, 12:35:24 PM »
Does anyone have a picture of what the original air cleaner looked like on a '69 Camaro with the SS 350 cu. in 300 H.P. engine?  Just curious if this set-up is correct, which I kind of doubt.

Thanks in advance.

Maintenance / Fuel Lead Additive
« on: October 09, 2006, 11:23:01 AM »
I have a stock '69 SS with the 300 horse 350.  Don't I need to dump in some Lead Additive every time I buy fuel?  Anything else I should be doing to preserve the motor?

General Discussion / New Guy... Just adopted a 37 year old
« on: October 09, 2006, 02:47:48 AM »
Greetings,

My search for a '69 Camaro came to an end yesterday.  Bought a '69 Olympic Gold SS.  It is a survivor, amazingly original condition with the exception of  3 year old paint job.  350, 3-speed Muncie, 12 bolt posi, AM Radio its all there.  The car has always been garaged and spent its life in Colorado.  Zero body rust and the interior is very nice but needs a few pieces to be 100%.

The kicker... it's a one owner car, and the previous owner was the service manager at a Chevy dealership, he passed away, the wife sold the car!

I am black and blue from pinching myself, thought this only happened in dreams, but so far it's all good.  You probably think I am pulling your leg, but this is for real.

The car has the usual droopy rear springs and is missing the front font spoiler.  So my first question is who would you reccomend for replacement parts.

Your input will be sincerely appreciated.

John S.
