Restoration / Paint Compatibility
« on: May 02, 2017, 10:48:46 AM »
Hello, I have an all original 67 Camaro. The car was repainted over the original paint with a Lacquer paint. This paint started to lift off and now the paint does not look that good. Underneath I imagine is the original 1967 paint sanded down and painted over, but I do not know.

My question is, is it necessary to completely strip the paint to the metal if the original 1967 paint is there`? Or can the car be sanded down to the original primer and painted over with today´s modern paints?

If some paints would work better than others with the original primer, which paints would those be?

Thanks and Regards,
Allen

Restoration / Coil Springs
« on: August 02, 2011, 01:45:54 PM »
On my Camaro the springs are not original Chevy springs and I would like to replace them with originals. (it was some kind of hop-up kit from the sixties, as I understand - will need original spindles as well). I have a 1967 Coupe with a stock 350 and no air conditioning.

When I look at the 1967 assy manual I can see that there are a lot of different springs. But in the parts catalog I have there are not that many different ones. Can any one suggust replacement springs that will have the absolute correct ride height? Thanks!

General Discussion / Sectional View Picture L48 350
« on: February 08, 2010, 12:12:06 PM »
Hi, I am looking for a jpeg of the sectional view drawing of the 350 L48 engine that appeared I believe in the Camaro sales brochure (with the yellow Camaro on the cover). I think this used to be on this website. I looked all over the web, but could not find it. Does anyone have a jpeg of this?

Thanks!

Maintenance / Brake Problems - help needed
« on: April 07, 2009, 07:03:42 PM »
Hi, I have a 1967 Camaro with stock non-power front discs / rear drums. I have been very busy the past few years and the car has sat in the garage and not been driven for longer periods of time, upto 6mos. between driving it. Due to sitting around, the brakes have problems. When I drive it, the right rear and only the right rear drum locks up. After cooling down the brake "releases" over time and then I can drive the car again, but then after they heat up, the right rear drum locks again. So, I took about both sides and cleaned all the parts. All the parts appear to be in good working condition, so I replaced both the left and right wheel cylinders and bled the brakes. Unfortunately, that had no effect and the the right rear drum still locks up. I have no clue why it is only the one side and not the other as well. What could be the problem? Thanks, Allen.

Maintenance / Drum Brake problem - help requested.
« on: May 30, 2008, 05:38:35 AM »
Hi, yesterday I took my Camaro out for a drive for the first time in 6 months. The rear right drum locked up during the drive and the drum and rim became very hot. I went home.

The drum is now locked. I checked the parking brake cable and it is loose. I assume that the pistons in the wheel cylinder are stuck - maybe from corrosion / lack of use over the winter?

How can get the drum off to get to the brake internals?

Thanks for your help.
Allen.

Restoration / 1967 Radius Rod
« on: May 29, 2007, 01:17:39 PM »
A while back I remember having a link to a site that deailed installing the reinforcement plate for the radius rod, the one that installs in the interior and puts bolths through the floor where another bracket is bolted. Can anyone provide me with the link? I thought it was on a 67 z/28 website, but I can't seem to locat it. Thanks! Al Brandt.

Restoration / 1967 Seat Belt configuration
« on: May 21, 2007, 09:51:01 AM »
By the time I was the owner of my Camaro, the rear seat belts had gone missing. Later, the fronts ended up getting stolen. So, I had to start from scratch and purchased a set of restored seatbelts from Python restorations. Since my Camaro is otherwise very original, I opted to get the seatbelts with the labels. The next step is to install them, but I am not sure as to what is the configuration. I read on another post that the D-Rings go on the outside in the rear and the buckles are in the center. With the seatbelts laying on the top of the rear seat, do the lables go face down?

For the front, what is the configuration for the labels? If I pull out my retractor, which side should the label be on? The top (exposed) or facing down?

Also, I found out the wrong anchors were used for my front belts, D-Ring side. The diameter of the hole is too small for the shouldered bolt. Can anyone tell me what diamter the hole is supposed to be? I am going to increase the diameter of the anchor bolt hole by drilling.

Thanks.

Restoration / Seat Restoration - 1967 Deluxe Buckets
« on: November 20, 2006, 11:01:21 AM »
Does anyone have any experience restoring their bucket seats with new foam pads?

Any information would be appreciated. I am most interested in knowing the difference between the foam padding with internal springs and those w/o them. Did the original seats have springs inside the foam? Thanks.
