General Discussion / Pricing for a 1968 MO complete engine

I am getting ready to offer up my MO 1968 complete engine. I bought it with my z 10 years go. It was completely assembled, with an inch of body shop dust on it and I was told I was all new but took it to a machine shop to be inspected. After the heads were removed , it is evident it had never been fired.  It is 30 with correct pistons but they used full floating pins, correct crank, pan, intake , heads , rockers , all is correct expect cam, it was a hydraulic that was  removed. I just wanted to see what a reasonable price would be to ask. I appreciate any suggestions. Thanks!

I have this complete engine and wanted to make it available to its rightful car first before it goes up for auction. 
Block E15 8.  V05I6MO. 18n438462
Heads 3917291 E 10 8
it's in a good friends machine shop, everything is there and correct except the original cam , it is 30 over with GM pistons, it's still the way I bought it 10 years ago no carb , has water pump , pulley,  oil filler and cap,. I plan on going to his shop this week and will take all the pictures and all the casting numbers to list it . Here are a few old ones I had when I picked it up .

Originality / Restoration Paint Guide for 1968 Camaro Z28

Is there a true guide or book that details the correct paint and finish for each part of a Camaro? I am in the paint process of the restoration and I keep seeing so many different opinions. I would really like to find a guide, so I can keep each part as accurate as possible. Any help would be appreciated!!

Originality / Firewall Help? 1968 z28

Ok heres my delema.  I have to replace my firewall and upper cowl due to damage from a clutch explosion. It must have happened a long time ago, the upper cowl was cut open and bondo was poured down into the trans tunnel part of the firewall. My problem is i have the numbers matching engine and i am going to have to remove both hidden vins during restoration. I have tons of pictures of the areas and numbers. What do i need to do to keep this car as original as possible? I really dont want to restamp the numbers, but what do you do?

I was wondering , is there a listing of todays paint colors and codes for restoring all of the parts of Camaros? It seems that ever time you turn around a different part needs a another color! Has anyone seen an actual chart of finishes on the web? Thanks!

Originality / Rally wheels 1968 z28

Ok, here is my delima.  I know 68 rally wheels should be DF stamped. I have been lucky that almost all of the original parts were still intact on my Z28 . My wheels have an FW stamp (chevelle or monte), but the date code is wrong! The stamps on my wheels are as follows   K18 4 28 FW. Which is correct for my 05c   Z28.  Any thoughts?

Originality / Valve covers for 68 z28

I have read in different places that the 68 z28 came with steel chromed plain valve covers , i also have read that the finned valve covers were also used. Does anyone have info on this? My car is a 3rd week of may 68 z28.

Originality / console without gauges?

Is there a real tell tale way to find out if your console had gauges. My car has the riv nuts in place for the console but i dont see any wiring for gauges? hELP?

Need a little help. I am trying to put the original head bolts back in my 302. Were there any diffrences in the small block head bolts? What years will work and were can i find them? Thanks for the help!

I just aquired a 68 z28, the car had a set of rusty 4 bolt square flange headers in the trunk. Does anyone know, who made a square 4 bolt flange header.

Originality / 1968 z28 steering box.

I need a little help. I found a 68 z28, and the research process has begun. The car has a steering box with the number 5679142 on the top. I cant find info on this except others asking the same question, is this correct?

Decoding/Numbers / Cowl tag help?

I just found a 1968 z28. I have started the research process and found that the cowl tag says  Z2 no dashes for the paint code. So i asumed the car had a black top, but they are no studs for the top and no indication of them from the inside? The car has been setting since the early eighties and was repainted nad sriped to the metal. Could this have been a black stripe indication?
