Restoration / Low Fuel Sender
« on: November 22, 2009, 08:04:31 PM »
My freind Fernando in Argentina is restoring his '69 back to stock. No small task since he can't legally import parts. He e-mailed me this photo of the low fuel unit , asking where to attach the yellow wire.
Anybody know ?
Thanks

Originality / ZL1 #26
« on: November 20, 2009, 08:45:38 PM »
Some friends of mine bought the #26 ZL1 continuation engine from GM and have a nice 1969 base car they are going to make a tribute of ZL1 car #26 out of. I would not call it a clone as they are going to keep the engine in the new trim. They would like to make the car as close to original as they can.
Here are a few things, being one of the 50 cars ordered by Gibb that I believe to be correct about ZL1 #26 –

Hugger Orange w/ black standard interior, no console.
M21 tranny
14” XT wheels w/ dog dish caps with F70 x 14 Raised White Letter tires.
(Would the Goodyear wide tread repo’s be correct ?)
No style trim, but chrome rocker trim.
120 mph speedo.
Chevy bowtie emblem front and back w/ only Camaro script on the front fenders.
J52 power front disc brakes.
Argent Silver grill w/ no chrome trim around the headlights.
No radio ordered.

Some things I’m not too sure about –
Would it be a heater delete car?
Would it have a clock?
What exhaust from the factory. Too late for chambered, correct?
Would the rocker panels be blacked out under the trim molding?
Would it be an X44 car?
How about floor mats, I don’t believe Gibb ordered them.
Any other details I am not thinking about?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks
Billy

Decoding/Numbers / COPO at Mecum
« on: May 12, 2009, 05:03:56 PM »
Take a look at the window sticker on the Orange COPO for sale at Mecum. If you scroll down there is a picture of it.

http://www.mecum.com/pdf/brochures/3_Fearsome_First_Camaros.PDF

It lists the N66 "Sports wheels". Is this a real window sticker ? Would these be correct for a Jan. VIN ?
I know these wheels have been a subject of debate on 1969 Camaros. Would this be the first known documentation if the sticker is real ?
Interested in everybody's opionion.
Thanks
Billy

Originality / Washer Fluid Color
« on: October 25, 2008, 01:40:53 PM »
When I was at the AACA Hershey meet a few weeks ago someone told me that the window washer fluid in a '69 should be green, not blue. That the blue fluid did not start until 1971. Anyone know for sure ?
Thanks

General Discussion / RPO Question
« on: March 06, 2008, 03:57:41 PM »
I am getting an Reproduction window sticker made for my 1969 350 SS.
Not trying to fool anyone, just would be fun to have at car shows.
The guy who makes them tells me that power brakes are included in the SS package and not a separate line item.
Anyone know if this is true ?
Thanks for your help.
