Restoration / 1967 Deluxe rear seat size
« on: December 27, 2016, 02:18:55 AM »
Hello guys. Been a while since I've been on here. So I have a simple question. Are 67 deluxe rear seat frames the same size (width) as convertible rear seat frames? I know deluxe uses the arm rest pieces but wasn't sure if the seat frame takes up the same space. My thought was the convert would be even narrower? Would be silly to make 3 different frames but it was the first year! Thanks in advance....

1968 - Orphans / 8L331654 - M22 Trans on CL
« on: May 21, 2008, 03:25:10 PM »
I just read a post on the San Francisco Craigs List for a 4 speed trans. listed as an M-22. The VIN # is for a 1968 Camaro. The date code is P8A23c. Maybe it can find it's original home.

Thanks, Dan

Originality / 1967 BB transmission
« on: April 06, 2008, 02:16:39 AM »
Hello,

I've recently run across a 67 Camaro with no transmission designation on the trim tag and it has a 4N code for an SS 396/325. Am I correct in assuming that it came with a TH400 originally? If so, how rare is that compared to a manual trans. combo with the 396? Thanks, Dan

Originality / Gorrect color of the nose stripe (bumble bee) in 68
« on: April 03, 2008, 02:08:45 PM »
Hey guys,

I have a friend getting ready for paint on a custom 68 car, but he is going for a factory exterior color combo. The car will be Matador red with a straight nose stripe (like 67). The car is having the tail pan blacked out and the lower doors and rockers due to the ss/rs 396 look he's going for. The question we have is, I've read where the rockers and tail pan are to be semi-gloss black but I can't find any info on the nose color? I always see them gloss black at shows on recently done cars but what's the correct from the factory look? He's afraid it would look funny to have a gloss stripe with the other areas in semi-gloss? Thanks in advance for the help,

Dan

1968 - Orphans / 68 z28 engine for sale on Craigs List - 8L338581
« on: January 15, 2008, 06:35:17 AM »
Hello,

Saw a posting for a fairly complete 68 z engine, block stamped with MO. Says it has a 610 intake, dz carb etc. Does not list the VIN. Search the SF Bay Area listings for 1-10-2008. Shows it's located in Turlock, Ca. Also still has an M20 bolted up to it. Maybe it will find it's correct home. Thanks, Dan (wish I had the car!)

Hey guys,

I finally tracked down an original q-jet 68 air cleaner and need the correct passenger side elbow set up for the breather. Anyone have any pics of a survivor as well? Thanks, Dan

Mild Modifications / Petronix distributor conversion with TIC TOC Tach
« on: April 24, 2007, 03:58:13 AM »
Hey guys,

When I assembled my car, I had installed a Petronix HEI conversion within the stock distirbutor. My tic toc had only worked intermittently since. I figured bad ground or something simple right? Well I decided to change out the printed circuit while I was at it, as it was rough looking and now I have no tach. Since this car was built from scratch I had never had it running before the Petronix install. Would that have anything to do with it, or am I still searching for a ground issue?

Thanks, Dan

Restoration / Window guide roller lube
« on: April 04, 2007, 04:00:34 AM »
Hey guys,

I have not found a discussion regarding the correct or suitable lube for window guide rollers and tracks. Also, what works good to clean the old crusty stuff off all the rollers etc?

Thanks, Dan

Restoration / Wiring harness snafoos! Help!
« on: April 10, 2006, 07:24:02 PM »
Hey guys,
Just finished up my wiring harnesses and fired the car up. Everything electrical was replaced with after market harness kits from NPD including switches. Nice stuff, everything looks correct and plugged in exact. OK. Everything seams to be working except: wiper motor, heater fan, radio. I have tested these systems directly from the battery and the wiper motor, fan blower etc work. But there is no juice at the fuse block. Do these systems get there power only after the key is in the on position? I have a wiring schematic and assembly manual etc etc etc. so I'm pretty sure everything is wired correct. Is there a ground that would be associated with all 3 of these systems? Also, when I first fired the car to break the motor in, the tic toc tach was working. Now it is not. Is it a stand alone item which is only affected by the printed circuit?  The clock does work still. I may have more things as I go but that's it for now. Thanks in advance, Dan

Maintenance / Original 10 bolt oil type
« on: March 27, 2006, 03:32:13 AM »
What is the correct weight of rear end gear oil for an original 1968 10 bolt rear? Also how much in quantity? I haven't taken the time to dig through my assembly manual. I'm sure the info's in there if someone has a page reference I'll dig it out. Thanks, Dan

Originality / Correct layout of rear seat belts
« on: March 24, 2006, 06:09:41 PM »
Hey guys,

What is the correct layout for the 3 seat belt set-ups across the rear seat in a 68 with deluxe interior? In other words, which of the four bolts get buckle plates and which get the latches? I believe the two outside bolts only get one latch plate each correct? Then what? Thanks in advance, Dan

Originality / Correct Oil fill cap for 68 327
« on: March 09, 2006, 04:44:39 PM »
I'm building an original 68 327/275hp engine and need to know what the fill tube and cap should be. I have the original valve cover style that has the "v" shaped top with the raised square in the middle for the decal and these have no breather holes. Should the oil fill tube cap be a push on or twist on style. Also will it be the only way that the engine breathes thus be a breather style cap? Thanks, Dan

Restoration / Intake fitting for RS vacuum line
« on: March 08, 2006, 05:51:19 PM »
Hey guys,

What is the correct style intake fitting for the vacuum lines associated with a 68 Rally Sport V-8 with power brakes, automatic and of course the RS connection? A picture would be great. Thanks, Dan

Originality / Correct style grille for 68 RS
« on: February 07, 2006, 05:23:55 AM »
I'm looking at the replacement grille set up for a 68 RS being offered on ebay by Heartbeat City with the silver facing on the edges of the grille and headlight doors. It seems that this is a fairly new product made by CHQ and I'm told it is the correct style for 68 Rally Sports and that no one had ever reproduced it before, thus being the reason we see all of the 68's with black replacement grilles. I'm looking for comments on whether or not these are correct? Anybody with a survivor out there with this type of grille? Thanks, Dan

Originality / 68 RS 327 Cooling Fan Type
« on: February 07, 2006, 05:18:04 AM »
What style fan should be correct for a 275 hp 327 in a 68 RS (built 3rd week dec 67) with auto, no air (standard 4 blade with spacer or clutch type)? Thanks, Dan
