Maintenance / Heater Core
« on: October 30, 2006, 04:16:45 PM »
I'm changing my heater core, and it is a PITA, I loosened the 5 nuts off engine side box, took glove box out, and have gotten the inner box out , and I have the old core out. Now I am waiting for seals to come in the mail. But here is my problem, I ordered my heater core from O'reilly's and it is exactly 1/2 inch thicker than the original. And the tubes seem to be bent differently. I have a non A/C car. I tried to get the new core thru the holes , just to see if I could, and I did not succeed, I think I could If I had another person on the engine side, but the box on that side is very hard to pry out .
Has anyone had one that was 1/2 inch thicker than original? I have read other posts and seems that aftermarkets are thinner than original. Wondering if I have the correct one or not????

Maintenance / 750 CFM Edlebrock
« on: October 02, 2006, 12:36:39 AM »
I have a 350 in my Camaro, it is pushing close to 350 hp. I have a 600cfm edlebrock sitting on top right now, but would like to try a 750. I have heard it will be to much carb., but I've seen a 750 on a stock 350 do just fine. what are your opinions??

Maintenance / Camaro won't start
« on: August 24, 2006, 02:14:52 AM »
Hey guys, I need some help. I have a 68, I turn the key and nothing, I do have strong battery, and alt. was just rebuilt. Could starter be trashed??? Ocassionaly I can take a screwdriver and bump the starter, then go inside and turn key and it starts, but no such luck anymore. Is the starter my culprit???
Thanks

What does everyone think about 225/55R-16 tires all the way around on a 68? Will they work? Rub?

General Discussion / 1968 Camaro RS
« on: April 02, 2006, 02:50:51 AM »
My brother in law is going to aquire his late Uncle's 1968 Camaro.  He will be bringing it home next weekend. When he went to see it back during Christmas time, he was able to drive it. The question is, it is badged with RS emblems, has an RS steering wheel center cap, but it has z28 stripes, a standard grille with RS badge, no back up lights in rear valance, and it has a 350 in it.  Now, his Uncle was supposedly the 2nd owner, and my brother in law hasn't asked his aunt if his Uncle had done any work to it, or was this how he recieved it. But I just wanted to ask an expert, if it could still be an RS car?
I will have numbers pretty soon to run.
Thank you

Maintenance / NEED HELP PLEASE "Fuse Block 1968"
« on: January 09, 2006, 05:22:55 AM »
Would anyone have a picture, or take a picture of their 68' fuse block, some of the descriptions and what size fuses are very hard to read on mine.
I am hooking up an aftermarket radio, and I have blown 2 fuses, seperate ones, radio, and lighter, I believe. Any idea why they would blow? I have disconnected the neg. terminal on battery before hooking anything up. I had used a test light to check what was constant hot, and ign. hot.

In the center of the fuse block, there is 3 or 4 prongs where you can plug a quick connect to, if I read correctly , one was Batt. , another was acc., but when I checked them, with and without key on neither were hot, shouldn't the battery one be hot constantly, and the acc. one be hot with ign. to on? I wanted to use the quick connects in those two places, but didn't get any power. So where would you hook your always hot wire, and the one for ign.? I do have the old style buss fuse block.

I know the easy way would go with Painless wireing, but cannot afford that at this time.

Any suggestions, would be greatly appreciated..

With the recent news about GM going to eventually lay off 30,000 people, do you still think the camaro will make an appearance in the near future??
