Maintenance / Vacuum Noise
« on: September 05, 2017, 07:09:57 PM »
302 in my Z runs great, but I am hearing a high pitched whistle while it runs. It is coming from the carburetor inlet; when I place my hand over the air horn, it disappears. Is this normal, or does someone have an idea what could be the cause? I have a brief video but it's 18.3 MB.

General Discussion / Yenko Camaro

Came across this ad for the first prototype Yenko Camaro? Anyone know the story with this car? Not on the list I have seen?

Maintenance / 69 Camaro Clutch Cross Shaft
« on: May 24, 2017, 06:59:59 PM »
Ok, so I need to remove the clutch cross shaft to re-work my brake lines. Anyone have any tricks for re-installing it as there is a stud which has to slip into a fork mounted to the sub frame. The problem is reaching between the inner fender and the frame to re-install the stud into the fork, as it very close to the inner fender and getting my hand and/or wrench in there is tight. I'm working from inside the front wheel well with the tire removed.

Decoding/Numbers / Windshield Wiper Motor
« on: April 13, 2017, 07:42:37 PM »
So I read the posts from 2015 regarding dating the wiper motors, and was checking mine out. I see the "Typee 12V" embossed into my unit, but do not see any trace of a part number above that. In the pic's from the previous posts, it appears that is where the part number should be located. Is is just thick paint obscuring my part number, or am I missing something else?

Originality / 68 Rear Spoiler

Any markings or way to verify 67/68 original GM rear spoiler from reproductions?

General Discussion / Chassis Broadcast Sheet
« on: February 21, 2017, 04:41:34 PM »
So I know finding the body broadcast sheet in a 69 Norwood built Camaro is very rare. How often do chassis broadcast sheets turn up? It seems like these would never have been in the car since they traveled with the chassis assembly. Only one I have seen a copy of is ZL-1 #2. Does the CRG group have many of these?

Originality / 69 Z Water Pump Pulley
« on: September 28, 2016, 03:08:28 PM »
So I'm looking at this pulley on ebay. Is this part genuine? Trying to post a link, but I don't seem to have it figured.

« on: July 20, 2016, 08:48:48 PM »
So I'm looking at a 68 Camaro rear spoiler #3916633 online for sale that's supposed to be original GM; How can I can I tell repro from authentic GM?

Decoding/Numbers / Rear End Ring Gear Decode
« on: June 09, 2016, 06:48:38 PM »
Question regarding decoding of the numbers on the ring gear of my original 3:73 posi, BU code rear end:

Codes as follows:  2   GM   3862525    11 41    9  68

I decode as follows:

2  = Production Plant?

GM = General Motors

3862525 = Chevrolet Part No.

11  41 = 3:73 Ring and Pinion Set

9  68 = Sept 68 production

Does the "2" indicate a production plant, and if so, which one?

Can anybody tell me what this starter fits?

Maintenance / Brakes Trouble Shooting
« on: March 03, 2015, 04:54:03 PM »
I've recently had my brakes requiring stiff pedal pressure from my foot. 69 Camaro with front discs. At first I suspected that my calipers were frozen, but I also have a hissing noise which seems to be at the carb throttle bores. I can hear it when the air cleaner is on, but it is noticeably louder when I remove the air cleaner. It been suggested that my brake booster might be bad? Hoe would one check the booster?

Maintenance / Hurst Shifter Adjusting Blocks/Rods
« on: September 30, 2014, 06:40:21 PM »
I'm trying to free up the adjusting blocks that thread onto the shift rods on an after market competition plus. They are frozen and will not more. I've tried soaking in WD 40 for 24 hours, and even heating the blocks themselves to try to free them up, but nothing haven't had any success. Anything else I can soak the in or any other ideas?

Restoration / AM Radio
« on: September 26, 2014, 02:52:33 PM »
I'd like to remove that after market Radio from my 69 Camaro and re install a more original looking AM unit. I have an AM radio from my 71 Chevelle that looks pretty much identical to the pics I've seen of the 69 unit. ID/Part no. is identical, except first character is "1" for 71, not "9" for 69. Looks like it would work? Does the radio have some kind of mounting bracket on the back side that I need as well? Seems like it would have to?

Originality / Front Bumper Guards
« on: April 24, 2014, 07:05:47 PM »
Are the front bumper guards one of those items that were actually quite rare on production Camaros in 69? It looks like only 12000 or so were sold in 69 as a separate option. Were they a subset of another option, like the rear ones would be a subset of F41? Seems like a lot of Camaros for sale have these. I was wondering if they are one of those items that weren't there originally, but are added later?
