Were they molded and put on the cars or were they painted? if so whts the procedure? Thanks In Advance.... Also Are there any major differences in the NOS ones and Repops... as far as fit and apperance?

« on: June 03, 2006, 03:55:19 PM »
Saw this browsing the Mecum site.... besides being a convertible and an RS it appears to have the same Paint/ Top/ Interior color combination as my '68. I figured that if I got any more photos of it then i wold have a bewtter idea of MY finished product. Besides that this is a really nice and rare '68.. that is IF its real... no mrntion of documentation...  http://www.mecumauction.com/auctions/lot_detail.html?LOT_ID=SC0506-35938

Originality / Too Many Holes!!!!
« on: May 30, 2006, 04:36:01 AM »
Ok... Here is a good brain teaser for you camaro "enthusiasts" and more than likely a piece of cake for you "experts"... either way I myself dont know the answer. Break out your 1968 assembly manuals, and give me your opinions or shed me on a few facts. Below i have posted a picture of a section of the firewall area of my 68... It is a possible L30/M20 car as it has the valve on the frame and a few other odds and ends... but anyways there are 3 holes labeled on my pic.. what were they for?

I believe hole "A" to be the for RPO U17, the oil line hole, as seen in AM UPC 0 Sheet A8.5

Im just confused about hole "B" At first i thought it was hole 3C on AM UPC 0 Sheet A8.5 but holes 3A and both 3B holes are not there.

Hole "C" is where the origional speedometer pierced the firewall.

Ant and all help and opinions are apperciated. I wist to restore this car to its origional state and have very little to go by but i want to make it as correct as possible. Thanks in advance!

Restoration / Primer recomendations....
« on: May 02, 2006, 09:25:55 PM »
Hi all.... I have spent the past few days reworkin and origional Non-RS 68 fender. I know its crazy but i got around 20 hours in this fender and it didnt have a single dent in it to start with! But it was rusted out in the back and a little spot bout the size of a penny on the front. I have worked very hard and the repairs are 100% undetectable and the isnt a single spot of bondo or filler anywhere on it. Id ven go as far to say it compares to a NOS piece. Anyways the fender is in bare metal right now and i just want to know if you guys have any recomendation to a good primer to put on it to keep it from rusting. Keep in mind that the primer that goes on will stay there. It wont be the final coat of primer but i would like it to be the same as what will be used on the rest of the car and as the final coat before i shoot the color. Ill be sprayin Rally Green over it when it comes time to paint so i want the primer color to be one that wont diftort the green more than what it was distorted at the factory. Any recomendation on Brands, types, or colors?

General Discussion / 67 L30/M20 Convertible on ebay w/POP...

First saw the link on the syc site.. figured there were a few people over here that hadnt seen it that were interested in the car.

Is this car in the registry already? If not someone should try to get up with the winner and ask him to enter it.... wouldnt want such a rare car to just "vanish"

Hope whoever buys the car enjoys restoring it as much as I have restoring my 68 rally green L30/M20 coupe!

Ok... trying to build up my "resource and reference" area of my upcoming resto on my firts car...my 1968 camaro. So far i have the Assembly manual, and alot of parts vendors books...ricks, year one, paddok, classic industries, etc... i plan on getting the following as well:

1. The wiring diagram manual
2. the chassis service manual
3. the fishey body service manual
4. the overhaul manual...(if i can find a copy)
5. Chevorlet by the numbers 65-69
6. Camaro..by Bill holder
7. 67-69 Camaro restoration guide..by Jason Scott
8. Origional Camaro..by jason scott
9. A bishko reprint of the parts book

Does any one on here have any more recomendations on literature?

Also... does ANYONE know where i can get a copy of "The 1967-1968 Camaro Reference Book From A to Z" i used to have a copy of this book but have lost it... everyone says it is out of print... i really want a copy if any one has one they would part with or knows where i could get my hands on a copy i would greatly appreciate it!!!

Originality / 1968 Interior RPO options
« on: February 28, 2006, 05:21:41 AM »
Okay... i have gotten myself confused. My 1968 has the "716" Custom ivory houndstooth bucket interior... what RPO did this fall under? and what all was included with it.. i know i had the pedal trim because the acc. pedal is still there and has the trim attached.. and this was a console car also... the special rivets are still in the trans tunnel. Did this car come with the wood wheel or was it a seperate option?

Originality / Auto or manual from the factory...can u tell...
« on: February 11, 2006, 06:55:37 AM »
As i have posted in previous post i have a 68 thats missing the interior, including the pedal assembly and steering column. My question is...Can u tell by the transmission tunnel if a car was an auto or a manual? I do know this...it does not have the cutout for the muncie spedometer cable...so that scratches that option...but still leave the possibility of a saginaw or a 3spd on the floor...or and auto. Can u tell by the cutouts of the tunnel, or the remains of a tunnel in my case, lol? Also were there holes drilled in the tunnel if one ordered the console option or were they there and only used if the console was ordered. Ill post a pic of the remans of my tunnel tomorrow...but would still like to know.
