Maintenance / door mirror adjustments????
« on: June 17, 2013, 07:18:43 PM »
The door mirror on my 67 will not hold where I place it. Is there a way to tighten the pivot point or ball of the mirror to remedy this problem or do I have to replace the whole unit?

Thanks in advance

Maintenance / losing coolant
« on: August 28, 2011, 10:47:35 PM »
Not sure this is where to post this question but here goes.
My 67 Camaro 350 either is using or losing radiator coolant about every 30 days or so. I can not find any leaks from the engine or the radiator so I am guessing it is either being used???? or evaporating.
Anyone else have this situation?

Thanks in advance.

Mild Modifications / Replacing brakes
« on: January 27, 2011, 03:07:50 PM »
This spring I am going to replace the brakes on my 67 Camaro. With all the new disc brake kits that are on the market I am contemplating putting discs of the front of my car. Presently I have power brakes. Question is, what would be the best way to go? Stay original? (car is not numbers matching) put on manual discs or power?

Thanks

Mild Modifications / Replacement carb?
« on: September 09, 2010, 05:47:15 PM »
What carb if any, would you replace the Rochester 750 cfm on a stock 350 V8?  Just about everyone I know that has replaced the 750 Rochester on a 350 have stepped down to a carb somewhere between 550 and 650 cfm. Biggest question is why did the first gen 350's have such a large carb compared to what is suggested to replace it with? ???

Thanks!!!!!!!!

Restoration / upper dash panel installation
« on: June 07, 2010, 10:39:12 PM »
I've posted this also under general discussion because I am not sure where it should be. Does anyone know how the upper dash (metal) is installed on a 67 Camaro? The reason I ask is on the passenger side inner door (hinge pillar?) just above the top hinge and below the front windshield, there is a bolt with 3 washer on it. I tighten it up as far as it would go and it just spins. Reason I ask is I have developed a "squeak" behind the glove box and was wondering if this bolt could be causing it. There is nothing on the drivers side like this. It "appears" this bolt and washers have something to do with the upper dash but I am not sure.

Thanks

General Discussion / 67 upper dash panel mounting
« on: June 07, 2010, 10:31:59 PM »
Can anyone tell me how the upper dash panel on a 67 Camaro is installed? Reason I ask, on the passenger side above the upper hinge and just below the front fender (inner) there is a bolt with 3 washer on it. I tried to tighten it up but it goes so far and then doesn't grab anything. I have developed a "squeak" behind the glove box and was trying to figure out if this bolt had anything to do with it. There is nothing on the drivers side so I am not sure what this bolt does. It "appears" to have something to do with the dash but I am not sure.

Thanks

Restoration / 67 vent window frames
« on: April 07, 2010, 11:21:15 PM »
Anyone have any ideas on where I can pick up the vent window frames for my 67 Camaro? I referring to the "back" part of the vent window that has the piece that goes down into the door frame and is held in place by the screw in the inner door and a bolt at the bottom. I've looked all over for these and can't find anything here in Wisconsin.

General Discussion / dying Vinyl roof
« on: April 15, 2009, 11:04:57 PM »
Several months ago I asked if anyone had ever re dyed the Vinyl roof on their Camaro and did not get many responses. Well I went and did it on mine. The top was originally Fawn Beige and was dyed to an off white. I had it redyed back to Fawn Beige. I go to pick up the car tomorrow and from what the owner of body shop that did the redying states it looks really really good and he likes the look better than the off white that was on the car. He said the hardest part was prepping and cleaning the Vinyl  with the cleaner included prior to applying the dye. He sprayed on 4 light coats of the dye. He said what he really was impressed with was there was no major buildup of product and it bonded really well to the vinyl roof. The coats dryed within 20 minutes as stated and he was able to apply each coat every 20 -25 minutes. He is going to apply the "conditioner" that came with the dye kit tomorrow during the day and I should be able to pick it tomorrow evening. I'll let you how it looks.

Restoration / draft
« on: May 07, 2008, 11:08:47 PM »
Not sure if this is the correct forum to post this query. I completed changing the heater core and put in new carpet in my 67. On the passenger side there is a draft coming from under the dash that drives my wife nuts!!!!!!!!!!!! I checked to see if the kick panel vent was closing and  sealing properly and it is. I checked to the best of my ability to see if the doors on the heater were working properly regarding the defroster and heat vents and they appear to be. I have no clue where this draft is coming from. Could the plastic "Y" tube used for the flow of air for the heat and defroster be damaged causing this problem? Or is it something that I am missing completly.  ???

Thanks CRG!

General Discussion / Is it really Spring!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
« on: March 29, 2008, 10:26:07 PM »
It really really has to be Spring here in Wisconsin. Why??? Because I finally got my 67 out of the garage and was able to drive it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The day after the official first day of Spring March 22nd, we got 12 more inches of snow!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Giving us a whopping 101" for the year. So do you think I'm pumped a bit? Drove the car for about 2 hours just to get the feel back. The work I had done on the carb really does make a difference. Now it goes up to my firends place and we will start pulling the interior apart to put in a new heater core ( was a bit chilly today), carpeting, and upper roof rubber weatherstripping for the door glass. Then the final wire harness for the headlights and such. We hope to have all this done in the next 3 weeks because the first big show of the year is the last weekend of April. The feature car for this show is,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, you got it!!!!!! Camaro.

General Discussion / Rochester carb application
« on: March 06, 2008, 10:07:15 PM »
Once again I need the expertise of CRG.

Can someone tell me the differences between a 4 barrel Rochester Quadrjet that is used by Chevorlet against one that is used by Buick or Olds considering they were all being used on small block V8's. Were there that many difference for these carbs? Did it make a big difference if the car had an auto or stick tranny? I'm talking about Quadrajets used lets say between 67 and 70 or 71 by all three manufacturers. My though process goes something like this, Rochester shipped x number of 4 barrel carbs to each facillity and based on the application of the manufacturer(example 1969 350 auto tranny) determined what id tag was attached to the carbs to show the application. Or is this thought process way out of wack?????????????? ??? :-[  The reason I ask, I've been told that the internal parts like the jets and such were different.

Thanks!!!!!!!!!!!

General Discussion / ether use
« on: January 18, 2008, 12:26:47 AM »
The weather this January here in Wisconsin has really been up and down!!!!!!! Believe it or not, one day it was 60 and then the next 20. My point is this, With all the dramatic changes in the weather, I had a real hard time starting my 67 this month and I am guessing it was because of the moisture. I pulled the distributor cap off and sprayed it with WD40 and wipe it out. I have electronic ignition by the way. Still would not start. I then sparyed a little ether in the carb(Quadrajet) and it fire up. My question is this,,,,,,,,,,,,, (finally ;D) does using the ether to start the car do any damage to the engine or carb?

General Discussion / Just waiting for spring
« on: December 17, 2007, 05:28:39 PM »
Well my 67 has been stored now for about 2 months and I just went out to the garage and started it up. If it wasn't for the fact we have about 7" of the white stuff on the ground here in Wisconsin I would have tried to get it out of the garage and down the road!!!!!!!!!!!
Oh well spring can't be that far off can it!!!!!!!!!!!!!?????????????????????
