Maintenance / cam install help
« on: June 11, 2007, 12:53:16 AM »
I'm going to install a new cam in my car tomarrow,my last one wiped after 500 miles. I want to make sure I doin't miss anything installing this one. Do I need cam lubricant ? I have a bottle of EOS. I know to run it at arround 2000 rpms for 20 min.I know about the oil with zinc. Do I need to worry about metal in the oil pan from the bad cam ? If someone could give me a 101 on how to do this that would be a great help. I doin't know how to look this up in other posts or I would Thanks Bob

Maintenance / wiped cam lobe ?
« on: May 08, 2007, 12:44:27 AM »
I  had a noise coming from my valve cover, when I checked it out I found a rocker laying there, rocker looked ok , but the pushrod was about an inch lower than it should be, pulled the rod and it was ok. I only have about 500-1,000 miles on new motor. I did everything I was suppose to too break it in. Could it have been a bad one out of the box ? Any ideas Thanks Bob

I need help with finding out where the second part of the stero plugs in to the main section .I changed the heating core the other day,and when I pulled the heater box down the second half of the raido came with it .I put it aside and finisshed the heater. ( not as bad as I thouhgt ) When it fell it came unpluged ( heavy black cable with about 8 prongs on it ) and I can't find out where it goes. It's hard to see so I'm mostly feeling for it. Anyone know where to look ? Thanks Bob

Maintenance / Rebuilt motor tuneup
« on: January 25, 2006, 06:34:33 PM »
I need help trying to figure out why my 302 (30-30 cam ) wants to run at 20 before. It has a MSD dist ( unlite ) that I know nothing about, could this be messing with my setting? It seams to run good at 20 before. I doin't think there's a vacume leak, it idels fine but I only get about 8 lbs. of vacume. the cam was advanced 4 degrees could this be it. And last I think I might have the valve lash to tight ( I doin"t here any noise under the covers ).One more thing is the gas is 6 months old . Any ideas Thanks Bob
