General Discussion / 68 Z28 on eBay, help with originality
« on: September 28, 2016, 04:10:43 AM »
Ok forum, give me your opinion on the originality of this car. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Chevrolet-Camaro-Z28-/322269907026?forcerrptr=true&hash=item4b08c88852:g:QHIAAOSw0UdXrhf3&item=322269907026I

I have a soft spot for 68 Blue Z28's.  I've asked the poster for more documentation and pics of the glove box sticker, cowl tag, and engine stamp.

Thanks,

Mild Modifications / FiTech TBI Fuel Injection
« on: June 06, 2016, 10:58:43 PM »
I've decided after17 years that my Z10 is part of the family and it's not going anywhere.  So, rather than see it get out of storage about 5 days a year to go to shows, I've decided to make it more user friendly.

As I've gotten older I've gotten spoiled by little things like A/C, cruise control, crisp steering, stickier tires, 5speed transmissions and fuel injection.  So, I've made the decision to do some modifications on the Z10, that will be fully reversible, and will coax me into driving it more frequently.

So about 2 months ago I decided to save my 14" Goodyear GTII's which are 15 years old and swap them out for stickier rubber and 17" aluminum rallies.  My next mod is adding fuel injection from Fitech.  The Fitech TBI system bolts on my ZZ4 manifold and is basically invisible under the air cleaner assembly.  It also incorporates a surge tank which boosts pressure for the TBI, and doesn't require me to drop the tank and install a high pressure pump or change the tank out completely.

After installation the engine started right up and so far has really woken the ZZ4 up.  So, here are a few photos if anyone is interested.

General Discussion / Vintage Air?
« on: February 07, 2016, 05:52:54 AM »
West Texas is a pretty hot place in the summer months and for that reason, I just don't drive my 69 as much as I'd like to.  So I would love to hear others experience installing Vintage Air in their cars.  Also, anyone know who's got the best pricing out there?

It's time to cool this old horse down.  (Meaning Me)

Maintenance / Need advice on new tires?
« on: April 05, 2013, 07:55:46 PM »
Although the tread on my Goodyear GT's are good, the tires are now 13 years old and I"m thinking it's time to replace them.  Just don't feel good about running them at highway speeds.  I'm running stock 14" Rallies, so what brand and sizes are you guys using.

The only thing I've found, are 225/70/14 B.F. Goodrich.  Any other options or sizes?

Thanks,

General Discussion / Is this Vin in the data base?
« on: December 23, 2012, 09:54:35 PM »
I just ran across an old insurance statement from Allstate from 1972 that lists the VIN from my 68 Lemans Blue Z.  Can someone tell me if this VIN is in the data base?

Oh, 1 year of liability insurance for this car in was $165.00 or $13.75 per month.   I miss those rates!

General Discussion / Dealer Promotional Plastic Models?
« on: December 05, 2011, 05:59:40 AM »
Ok, I remember when I was a kid back in the 60's Chevy dealers often had 1:24 scale plastic models of the new years models.  I was never fortunate to have one of these until this weekend.  I was browsing around an antique store with my wife when I came across a plastic box with about 10 cars.  What caught my eye was a Z11 model complete with door decals.  I also found a gold 67 RS/SS.  I also recall a 62 Impala coupe.

The older lady who owned and operated the store told me that these were in the back of her husbands closest, who it turns out, owned the dealership.

Does anyone have any idea what these are worth? They are in great shape but do not have the boxes.

Thanks,

General Discussion / First Z10 Post
« on: March 07, 2010, 04:59:11 PM »
I'll be the first to post.  I'm the second owner of an 05A Z10.  I purchased this car from the original family back in September of 99.  I've know about this car since the first time I saw it on the show room floor of my local Chevy dealer, Culberson-Stowers Chevrolet, in Pampa, TX.  The car is a M20 4speed car with power steering and brakes, and black houndstooth.  I do have the POP and original window sticker.

Maintenance / M20 poping out of gear?
« on: July 03, 2009, 03:52:16 AM »
I have a question about my M20 transmission in my 69.  While cruising on the highway at 70, and I rapidly let of the gas, the trans pops out of 4th and into neutral.  No problem at all shifting throught the gears up or down.

If I keep my hand on the shifter it won't pop out.

Could this be a linkage adjustment proplem?

Thanks,

Kris

Thought some of you might like to see a piece of history in motion.  Yesterday here in Midland,TX at the Chaparral Gallary, Jim Hall fired up the Chap 2E and took her for a spin.  Not to be confused with the 2E continuation cars, this is the real deal.
If you ever find yourseld on I-20 about 350 miles west of Dallas, stop in and check out this world class collection of Chevy powered race cars.

Enjoy  ;D

Originality / 69 350 Valve cover?
« on: December 31, 2007, 06:35:44 PM »
When I purchased my Z10 the engine had the Z/28 style aluminum covers.  I would like to find a set of stamped steel covers and ran accross these on ebay.  These are suppose to be from a 68 Chevy.  Would they be correct for my L48?

Thanks,
Kris

General Discussion / Texaco Crushes a 68!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
« on: November 24, 2007, 01:06:40 AM »
 >:(
I was just watching the pre-game for the Mavericks when a Texaco commercial came on which shows a blue 68 getting crushed at a wrecking yard.  I'm not sure what to think of this?  I don't think this is going to motivate me to buy their gas.

General Discussion / Not Camaro but maybe the ultimate Barn find.
« on: July 11, 2007, 09:26:50 PM »
I recived this in an email today.  I'm not sure about the back story but thought others would like to see this.

Kris

Can you imagine.. true story...  Imagine you're going to live in Portugal. You find a lovely farmhouse set on a decent plot of land. The place has been empty for 15 years...

While exploring your new property you find a large barn. The door is padlocked and welded shut and it's all rusted solid.

So you grind the padlock and the welds off and, .. BINGO!
