Is there a chance an "Upcoming Events" forum can be added? I am fairly new to the CRG and do not currently have a lot of contacts or visibility of upcoming events. I think it would be great addition for a lot of members.

Just a thought

Just a general question for those that want to answer, if I were only to buy one all encompassing book for 68 camaro, what book would you choose?

Just thought I would share with those that hadn't seen it yet. New stamps at post office with some awesome cars.

And speaking of awesome cars, it is so much fun watching shows like Adam-12 and seeing 1st gen Camaros everywhere. Yesterday in one show I saw a 68 SS-RS, a 69 convertible and a plain jane 68 CP.

I can hit the landing page no issues, but as soon as I click on forums i get the forbidden message talking about page no being secure with bad certificates. Any idea?

General Discussion / Parking Brake Switch Issues
« on: July 27, 2022, 10:55:18 PM »
Me again. I have been reading all most everything I can but I have another WTH moment. My parking brake is not aligned with anything that would depress the switch when parking brake is applied. I have triple checked the switch, verified it's location and mounting (12 B9 AIM page 168) See the picture below. Any ideas as to what's going on?

On a side note, anyone know any tricks to tightening driver door mirror? It's the ball pivot and socket that has all the play.

Thanks

General Discussion / General Question

I am looking at my old install of the harness to fuse box. It looks like they had the box mounted of the fire wall liner. My new fuse box has a seal on it. Should I cut away that liner and mount the gasket directly to the inner fire wall or bolt it up over top like the old on was? I am thinking it should not be over top of the liner.

Decoding/Numbers / Help with numbers.
« on: July 22, 2022, 03:33:53 PM »
My car is a 68 350 TH400.

Waiting on more parts so I thought I would hunt down some numbers to see what I have. For the engine, I found a few numbers on the block but I could not find the typical double code. I did find the one number listed in block casting numbers chart. They appear to be used for 327 and 350 in 1967 models.

Question: Does that mean this motor is out of a 67, or are the blocks widely used across other models and years and 67 just happened to use these particular blocks?

Is there a way to tell if it's a 327 0r 350?

Found a tag on the transmission left side up on the bell. I could find nothing that looked like the numbers I found on tranny tag. Any info would be appreciated.

Found numbers for exhaust manifolds. Is there a way to identify numbers on exhaust manifold?

Any info appreciated. Thanks

General Discussion / Front Parking Light Assembly Help
« on: July 16, 2022, 12:06:09 AM »
Soooo, I am running the new headlight harness and ran into an issue.

The old harness that was plugged into housing was designed so that the 2 contacts and black piece  were put in from the bulb side.

The harness ends I have are longer, and from looking at pictures on eBay they just twist into the housing from the rear.

Even if I cut the new wires, the white connector will not seat correctly in the housing because it is longer.

Any one know why the difference? Do they sell just the housing for these lamps? Am I stuck getting new lamp assemblies?

Thanks for any and all help.

Can someone tell me how the clock adjustment knob is removed? I have been twisting, turning, pushing...bla bla bla, but I can seem to get the knob off so I can mount in cluster.

Thanks

Thinking about installing a hidden starter switch. Not much on electrical, but I think I got it, you tell me.

I am going to install switch on ignition purple somewhere after ignition and before the starter. (the X)

Sound about right?

What the heck? Why is the console connector 5 feet long. I could run this around the dash twice and still have enough to reach connector. LOL

Can someone help me out. I am trying to determine where this ground wire goes. Best picture I have is to small to see. It looks like it is connecting to one of the temp gauge posts, but there are four posts. Any one have a better picture or know where it goes ?

General Discussion / TH400 Kick-Down Not working
« on: July 04, 2022, 08:46:17 PM »
Sorry for another post guys. I am doing a lot of reading but the odd ball stuff is killing. That's why I am here...LOL

Anyway, I just got this vehicle, bought it in TN and drove back to Pittsburgh. Drove great, but kick-down never worked the whole trip.

So I researched and found all the ways to test kick-down. Here is what I did to diagnose.

1.) Ran hot wire to one terminal of switch and grounded the Carb bracket. At about 3/4 throttle, 12 volt passes through switch to wire running to Trans.

2.) Checked wire to trans and connector. All is good.

3.) I turned down the radio and ran the switch again and can clearly here the solenoid in the trans being activated.

So based on my reading, everything is GTG...But it's not. Any ideas? Maybe I missed something?

Thanks
